Quarterback battles that could swing the 2017 CFB season

Hopefully whatever quarterback starts the season finishes it. If Dormady starts the season and JG finishes it, there's a high probability we had a bad season.

This is not necessarily true. Dobbs was extremely durable, more than any qb I've seen in years. How many times have we had a season where the qb was injured for at least 1, if not multiple, games?

I agree that, hopefully, the starter at the beginning of the season is the starter all season long. If they are not, I don't think it means we'll have a bad season. It could just be that someone gets injured.

I also hope whoever isn't named starter for week 1 doesn't get down about it and stays really prepared. They'll likely have 1 or more opportunities to start a game and run with it.

If Dormady loses out before the opener, I see him transferring. He has two years eligibility and a redshirt to use.

Please dear Lord, just let the best man win in a clear fashion, without any controversy.

Well, there will controversy on here either way. You can count on that. Many on here decided on JG before he ever set a foot on campus, and there can be no way they were wrong. Or at least they will never admit it.

I get your point though. I just hope that the best man plays and improves well enough to KEEP the job. The last thing we need is a revolving door. The season will be very disappointing if that happens.

You could be right, or he may wait several games or even the whole season before transferring. I don't see him sticking around if he knows he's not the man his senior year. Hopefully whoever doesn't start at least sticks around to play in a game or two, to show what they can do in live action.

He waits a few games and he loses pretty much a season of eligibility. He can do the graduate transfer route if he's in line for that but if he finds out before the season that a kid with 4 years of eligibility has beat him out? He cuts bait imo.

All I've got to say is don't read too much into spring football games. I've seen Clausen look avg. here before the 01 season where he played awesome. On the other hand I've seen basketball players look good just to give up football shortly after. I can't remember his name.??

I have mixed emotions about Worley. I think he (could have been) SEC "serviceable", but the lack of a full time QB coach didn't help.

And the O Line after 2013 certainly didn't help either. Nor did his standing there like a statue (coaching issue).

But I will say he's probably one of the toughest QBs I've seen in a long time.

Didn't Worley have Jake as his OC and QB coach?

Dobbs was certainly shafted the last two seasons with a GA as his QB coach that and the prior hire at strength and conditioning coach were the 2 biggest off the field decisions or misses by Butch IMHO.

Worley was never gonna set the world on fire, but he had some good games as a senior. He was in a s**tty situation with such a thin/inexperienced/not so talented OL and a WR corps full of guys who either couldn't stay healthy (North, Smith, and VP) in 2014.

I doubt he'd start over any of our current QBs (jury is still out on McBride, I guess), but if he'd had a situation like this season's, he could've had a solid year and led a team to 8-9 wins IMO.

I was actually pretty impressed with the work Bajakian did with him from 2013 to 2014. It's a shame we never got to see what he could've done with Dobbs.

I keep hearing how great a runner JG is but his YPC his Sr. year HS was just 2.7 average per. He either made some long runs and got sacked a lot to bring his numbers down or he is what his number say a fast straight on runner who doesn't have the intangible instincts like Dobbs. We shall see it will be interesting whoever give to best chance for W's.
He has darker skin, therefore, mobile, dual threat. Duh!?!?
