QBU?? (Article)

He is absolutely correct. We haven't had too many seasons in the past 30 years without a very good QB on the roster. Even during the terrible Dooley years, Tyler Bray was an above-average SEC QB. Since 1989 when Andy Kelly started, 2005, 2008, 2013, and 2014 are the only years I can of off the top of my head where we've had below-average QB play.

Butch is probably the best qb evaluator in the country. He is very good in this area....

Agreed. He is a good evaluator of talent period IMO

What i read into CBJ public statements, I don't think Butch is a fan of star ratings. He is more focused on heart to paraphrase lol. To be fair we have had some great 3 star guys. I think he knows a good athlete when he sees one and knows his team very well.

Right now, even with Peyton having retired, we have 4 former Vol QBs in the NFL (Josh Dobbs, Tyler Bray, Matt Simms and Nathan Peterman). I wonder if there are any schools with more than that.

Golden touch? LMAO

We've had some good college QBs, but only one NFL starter in the history of the program.

It certainly should help to have a QB coach who can singlemindedly focus on QB development. This is one of the biggest puzzles for me the past few years, where we've got TE coach for a position we throw the ball to a couple times a game, but no coach for the most important position. Granted, OC has handled the duties, but let's face it, the OC has other things, in addition to the QB to worry about. Either or Both of these QB's are going to shine this year.

We'll be considered QBU pretty soon. Dobbs will be a superstar QB in 2018. Dormady has a good chance to be a 1st round pick in 2018. Guarantano could follow him in a year or two as a 1st-2nd round pick.

Its possible that by 2021 we will have 3 starting QBs in the NFL (Dobbs, Dormady, and Guarantano).

I also like Adrian Martinez potential. He's got some Josh Dobbs to his game.

Praxite, let me save you a ton of frustration. Sit back relax, and be entertained as D4H projects 1/3 of our roster into the NFL Hall of Fame in the future. Just appreciate it as pure entertainment and try not to take it too seriously.

Somebody has to be the horses a$$ and call this bluff. Here are some other illustrious NFL starters besides the GOAT.

Pat Ryan
Heath Shuler
... aaaaaand .... wait for it ...

Tony Robinson.

Bobby Scott was an NFL starter as well.

Also, Dewey Warren started several games for the Bengals.

QB U? Not even remotely close. Lets be real here, I would be willing to bet that very few people can name a QB that played for UT other than Peyton Manning. Virtually no other QB we have ever had has had great success in the NFL. Dobbs has a slim chance to make some waves. Bray is basically a career backup.

That could change with QD or JG. But we arent anything U at the moment. Hopefully that changes.

Good read... However...

No mention of Casey Clausen is blasphemy. IMO... second best behind Manning.

Clausen WON... A LOT!!

His road record was the best of any UT QB ever.

I can't understand why he is so overlooked. Maybe because he was fairly low key or something.
