Three of Tennessee's QB targets will be at this weekend's Nike camp. Heaps is not expected to participate in drills because of a back injury sustained earlier in the week. After seeing Scroggins' new footage from Scout.com, I was thoroughly impressed with seeing him throw from a QB's perspective. He had great power and velocity behind each pass and it looked like he could put it anywhere he wanted to. I would love to see other QBs in the same setting with a cameraman standing behind the quarterback. Montana isn't in Scroggins' league in terms of longball capability, but he has a solid arm and has routinely been praised as a high-character leader who can make the necessary throws in a pro-style offense.

Jake Heaps (Sammamish, Wash./ Skyline)
He was expected to be the headliner at the quarterback position, but a back injury suffered earlier in the week will prevent him from throwing this weekend. The position will still be loaded led by a handful of Cali quarterbacks.

Jesse Scroggins (Lakewood, Calif./ Lakewood)
He has seen his stock soar in the past few months and deserves to be mentioned with the top signal callers in the region. He has a very live arm, spins it as consistently as anyone we've seen and knows when to put some nice touch on his passes as well.

Nick Montana (Westlake Village, Calif./ Oaks Christian)
This Under Armour All-American just gets better every time you see him. He was an Elite 11 ball boy two years ago and didn't project at the time as much more than a mid-major prospect. Fast forward a few years later and Montana is among the most heavily recruited quarterbacks in the nation. The signal caller will attend Notre Dame's spring weekend, but plans to head straight to USC from the airport to show he belongs among the nation's elite.

We officially offered Montana? Are you sure? Why would we offer this guy right now and not Hutson Mason?

a Scout writer told me via e-mail that Nick Montana told him that he was offered by Tennessee. Nick's been praised as a high character kid repeatedly and I see no reason to doubt him.

Montana and Heaps failed to make it in and Scroggins took home the QB MVP award. Look for him to continue to pick up offers coast-to-cast.

Any word on how we sit with Scroggins? I just haven't head that much on him.

I think we're near the top, but I've heard nothing on how we're recruiting him. There is certainly interest there and I think we will get a visit. We'll see what happens after that.

We need the VISIT. It helps that we were on him early, but with rising status comes more schools. Impressive video, the kid could end up being the top QB of 2010. Now, back to Meat Market, Spring Cleaning chapter.
