'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Hendon Hooker couldn't win the VA Tech job. Look how that turned out.

Obviously not saying I think Aguilar will be HH 2.0, but if Heup likes him and it frees up more money for other pieces we need, maybe that is the best play here.
I like Heup a lot, but the next QB he hits on will be his first here.

Let’s ride. The experience we’re bringing in will only help Merk and GMac. Not to mention the competition for QB1 & 2 in the fall. This will be good for the young guys. I think we’ll see more of a Hendon Hooker style offense this year with an experienced QB who can run tempo. Maybe he’s the first choice, but he wants to be a VOL and I’m good with it.

If he was skipping practices and going along with his family's demands, as has been alleged by some, that makes him part of the cancer, IMO.

I still hope he sucks at UCLA. He and his family screwed us over.

People gotta stop believing everything they read on the internet

STOP WOTH THE HOOKER TALK.

One time it works out that’s all everybody talks about. There are NUMEROUS instances of it not working out across CFB. This is just as likely to be a DJU situation.

I love the all caps response, 🤣. Some of yall need to calm down and let it play out.

Wasn’t his deal 1.3-1.5 million which is pretty strong? Any chance it was a clear starting path and good money?
People see Appalachian State so he must suck. They have no idea what supporting cast he had and have never seen him play. I wish I sucked if that means I threw for over 7,000 yards and UCLA was paying me $1.3 million to play college football. Heupel does know quarterbacks so let’s give the guy a chance.

Boosters will be pissed if we take the UCLA kid. It’s the optics. That we got UCLA leftovers. If we go that route, and it doesn’t go well. Heupel will have burnt some important bridges with money guys. I hope it works out.
Yeah this doesn’t look good on paper. Especially when the school is a program like ucla that struggles with NIL. Trust Heupel and will drink the orange kool-aid in the fall but this adds fuel to the fire from his critics that he doesn’t use the portal or recruit as well as a coach at Tennessee should.

Hope we use the money to sign some solid players

I guess we decided that Altmyer was never going to pull trigger. At some point you can’t talk anymore I guess. I know we presented him with an offer that would have paid him 3x what he’s getting at Illinois. Thought he’d make the jump, I think everyone thought it was enough to get him to make the jump. I’m already getting texts from some guys though. Not happy.

I get why people are upset due to the optics. I would almost guarantee we win more games than ucla this fall though.

Nico’s potential and 5 star status is what trips people up here. It’s certainly not because of his play or qb intangibles to date.
No one cares about winning more than UCLA. We are Tennessee and a top ten program. We need to act like it.

Well Heupel is about to do either do the funniest thing imaginable this season or the most tragic.

Aguilar balls out more than Nico and we win 9-10 games absolutely tanking Nico’s draft stock or we are pedestrian as hell and this QB swap is a disaster.
