'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

🤢

Bunch of five yard passes. Anything beyond that is a 50/50 ball at best. Garauntano-esque. Maybe it’s just the offense. I won’t be excited if it’s him.
In his defense, this was the worst example one could possibly use for his play. Clemson was all over the backfield against App State and took over almost immediately. Some people are convinced Clemson is a G5 program now and thus App State should be embarrassed to be beaten by them, but it’s not true at all.

Aguilar has had much better games than that, including a game against UNC in 2023 where he looked amazing. Very cherry-picked decision to pick his Clemson highlights

Just heard on the finebaum show, that Heupel likes what he sees on film in regards to Aguilar. So he's probably our guy unless he turns us down.
Do you really think Coach Heupel is going to state that in a forum where that could be linked to him? The very last thing Tennessee wants to do is be accused of improper contact or tampering

Guess i should add that it was Brad Crawford who said it, from 247 sports.

I’d rather roll with two and walk ins than waste money on this kid. Beef up the defense and hold teams to 13.
I dont know what i think ab Aguilar but cmon man having two scholly QBs going into a season is absolutely not ok. Every coach in America would tell you thats worst case scenario.

What a bad take

You are cherry picking one good game against UNC? The famous football powerhouse of North Carolina?

Yeah, i don’t think the people who are so against the idea of getting a third QB understand how quickly this could become a disaster.

Let’s say Merk gets hurt week 1. Tears his ACL. G-Mac comes in and is clearly unready and needs time in the oven. Or, he gets hurt too, and we have to roll out a walk on at QB.

We’d really wish we spent some cash on a guy like Aguilar then.

I guess no one has considered that one QB may leave if we bring someone in?

Nico screwed us. But if you bring someone in it has to be someone you want to start. Which is exactly what the two QBs will view it as.

What if it costs us Merk? You’re down to two QBs anyways and lost potentially a better QB.

I’ll support whoever is wearing orange and I legitimately hope that I’m wrong and Aguilar is an amazing QB

But he’s not a great get. But with the situation Nico got us in, I don’t think we can get a good one.

Why wouldn't a bad year make a kid who can choose to go anywhere rethink his decision?

Whether he takes over for Nico or another QB, and the rest of the squad and staff are static, then the rest of the original decision calc is in tact. Still a relationship centric process for most guys.
