It's pretty obvious at this point the staff is leaning towards crompton as our starter against western ky. Yet it is not in stone. I am interested to hear your predictions on the starter and stats for the first two games because I believe the second games stats agains UCLA will be much different.

Heres Mine:
VS. Western - Crompton 12-22 for 176 yds.- 1 int. 3 tds

Vs. UCLA - 13 for 28 for 172 yds. - 2 int. 1 td

You gotta realize how bad WKU is. If you're at roughly 55% and against these guys with no TD's, we're not winning 7 games this year.

WKU - Crompton goes 17-28 for 240 yards, 2 tds

UCLA - 16-26 210 yds , 2 td's - 1 int

Are you predicting that we are going to have 600 rushing yards in two games, or that Crompton is getting pulled after two quarters each game?

This is a new year, new staff, and you are going to see a new Crompton. I don't know how much better he will be but he will be a better QB than he was last year...

WKU- 14/19 231 yds. 2 TDs
UCLA- 17/25 202 yds. 1 TD 1 INT.

If Kiffin successfully rebuilds Crompton's confidence then you have greatly underestimated what his raw talent is capable of... If Kiffin doesn't... then I predict someone else will start vs WKU.

Well aginst western we will run the ball very well and also probably score on defense. Obviously the running game will be slowed down somewhat against ucla but not enough. Running the football gets this team its first two wins. While at the same time building the QB's confidence and will continue to progress throughout the season.

You hadn't included any passing TDs originally. I was wondering where the scoring was coming from. :eek:k:

By the way I see where you are from alcoa. Alcoa High plays my old high school Bell County this friday. Do you follow them?

Yeah, a little bit. I actually attended William Blount many moons ago. Maryville and Alcoa are both very well liked in this area, and we generally expect both of them to go undefeated most years.

It's kind of hard for both Maryville and Alcoa to go undefeated when they play each other every year. :)

Yeah, that's true. Maryville and Alcoa are in different classes, so I don't think the game itself has a bearing on playoff seeding. Maryville has won about 7 in a row, and Alcoa keeps winning state championships.

I'm going to say he throws for 150 and 2 TDs against WKU, we run the ball alot and Kiffin is using WKU to build Crompton's confidence

Against UCLA I say it will be close to the same, maybe 175-200 yards and 1-2 TDs with 1 INT, but we will still rely on the run game heavily in this game...IMO, the first 2 games are going to be pretty vanilla because Kiffin will want things to be played close to the chest going into Gansville, just to maybe keep UF off guard....JMO

I wouldn't mind if JC became a Trent Dilfer/Brad Johnson type player in their super bowl years. Don't try to win games but don't turn the ball over and lose games for us. Our running game and defense are looking solid. I say between both qbs they throw the ball 35 times just to get a good look at both guys.
JC 12/20 185 yds 2TDs 1INT first half
NS 8/15 100 yds 1TD second half

WKU is going to be a total massacre. YOu have to figure that Crompton is going to throw a screen pass that someone just takes to the house.

I say JC 10-12, 200 yards, 2 TD
and then Stephens is 7-9, 100 yards, 1 TD

Then he comes back to earth against UCLA

14-27 180 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

If the passing game looks weak against WKU, then everyone can pretty much assume that the UT passing game is going to be a train wreck.

WKU game will be a slaughter. I say Crompton will be 12-17 180 yds 2 tds, but we rush for close to 300. Crompton gets pulled in the 3rd after we are up big.

UCLA game I will say 15-22 210 yds, 2tds 1int. I think we have another good rushing game and win by 17.

*********IF WE BEAT UCLA*********
I still say we win 2 games solely thanks to the arm of Crompton.

Everyone is getting way ahead of themselves. Its only second week of practice and so much can happen between now and the season opener. Crompton has only had a couple of good days of practice and everyone is on his jock. Relax people.

This thread wasn't created in any way for the praise of cropmtons performances so far. His play has been inconsistent over all besides the scrimmage on Saturday. So I was just curious to see if the replies would be inconsistent as well. I figured you would see some generous lines and some not so generous.
