Are we even in the mix for any of the quarterbacks on NSD? Looking at Rivals and I see no one of substance listing the Vols as a possibility. This leaves us in a bad situation for next season at qb.

We wont sign any QB in this class, next year's class will be the one we will have alot of choice's from.

Im not to worried about the QB situation for this coming season. I think we will be okay @ that spot, not great but i dont think we will be as bad as we were last season.

Kiffin has watched a lot of tape on the current QB's. I think he's seen something he can work with.

we have a "make do" qb in 09, stephens or coleman, they just need good coaching, we get our 5 star in 2010, no need to panic !

welcome to the board. this had been a hot topic for months and everyone has an opinion. i don't plan a QB in this class but never count out CLK and staff.:)

I think they have all been offered. I am not sure Sims offer was made by Kiffin, I think it may have been made by previous staff (as was Malik Stokes).

Sorry if I was beating a dead horse on the qb question. I just thought it odd that there weren't any of the names here with UT on their list considering the ineptness from the position last season.

While true that a freshman qb isn't ideal, someone coming in this season and being red-shirted would make me feel better.

QB's will be the same.

On another note, I think Stephens needs to go back to his earlier look. :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

just remember we had "Pro-style" QBs trying to play "whatever style that was" last year. This year with the new coaches, they will be playing to their strengths once again. Should do wonders for their abilities

As crazy as it sounds, I am not worried about the QB situation this year. I think one of these guys we have will step up and be pretty solid this year. We might all be surprised with what happens when a player is actually coached and developed. Any of these guys are as good as most kids we would get straight out of high school this year, IMO. Well, Crompton might not be, but who knows. He might even surprise us if he is coached properly in a system he is familiar with.

Kiffin has watched a lot of tape on the current QB's. I think he's seen something he can work with.

That's what makes the weekly "Our QB's are horrible" threads so stupid. CLK obviously looked at this team's needs prior to heading out and determined that the greater needs were the WR's, OL's, and RB's around those QB's.

Of course someone's been saying that here for awhile now... :whistling:

My money right now would be on Coleman. I think CLK thinks more like Cut with regard to QB's.

While I haven't seen enough of Coleman to really have a pro or con opinion of him, I will say Stephens showed a much better arm than Crompton last season. At least his throws were not in the dirt as often. The WR corps hasn't been very effective either. Ainge made them look much better than they were. Coach Cut was a major difference.

I am also of the opinion that the offensive talent isn't as bad as they looked last season. A first year qb under *that* system was a major negative though.

.........yeah, I know. No one likes qb topics for some reason.

The Qb's were bad but a big problem was the coaching staff not implementing a plan to take the load off of them. I know it was Kentucky and Vandy, but we soundly beat those two by hiding our qbs and running it 50 times per game, which is what should have happened all along. I highly doubt we'll have a passer that tops 2000 yards next year, but if we can have a strong running game (very possible) and play outstanding D (even more possible) the vols can win 8,9 maybe 10 games this year
