QB position

I was looking at the QB's on the roster and good grief where did Tennessee come from on the QB's. With Bray, Worley, and Peterman I think the team is in great shape for the next 4 years at least. Are there any more Dooley is looking at?

Hopefully... We are in good shape with Bray and I sure hope the other cats follow suit!

Dooley said at one time he tries to get least one qb a year; prob'ly not a bad plan, that way if you have a guy leave after his Jr. year, you're still reloading.

I am excited to see what Peterman has to offer. I think Worley will be much improved after getting some playing time last year. Bray is going to step up and be a leader the next two years. I look for a very explosive offensive this year and it should be fun to watch. Imagine how much better Bray will be with a solid running game.

I'm worried about Bray being able to stay on the team.

Correct me if I'm wrong patriot-vol, but I'm guessing you are referencing the couple of "violation of team rules" (which the public doesn't hear about until the number of violations meets the institutional policy). I'm concerned about this as well.

With Hunter's return and DR's experience last season, combined with the return of most of the OL, Bray is set to be among the nation's elite next year. I am behind him 100 percent.

there were some rumors on TOS that Bray has some potential off the field issues that may cause issues down the road. TIFWIW.

Every team needs a player in waiting at that position. Not sure Worley is the guy, I would have liked UT to have landed a higher profile player then Peterman but haven't seen what he looks at UT. Maybe he's better then his rating. :twocents:

Four star per rivals, and named the top quarterback for florida. He was not the biggest name when we started recruiting him this year, but as the orlando sentinel (Pretty sure, but could be some other paper in florida) said this year he really exploded onto the scene this year and carried his team alot further in the playoffs this year. His senior film is very very impressive, good arm, intelligent, and good mobility. The only question with him is that he can sometimes be a bit of a gunslinger. The staff is very high on him, as evident by the fact that they said thanks but no thanks to kiel when he tried setting up an OV after he decommitted from Indiana. This kid has the potential to be very good.

3 stars on espn, #39 ranked QB in this class:

Football Recruiting - Recruiting Database Search - ESPN

He's also a little small for a QB, 6'1, 210 lbs. I think thats one of the reasons, for his lower grade.

Yes, not casting stones. He is very talented and I want him as UTs QB.

Yeah it's been known for a while that Bray has some extracurricular acvitivies that he needs to leave behind. Hope he does cause he really has potential to be great.

With that said we need to take a QB every yr without fail. We won't get a high 4* or a 5* every yr. But one every other yr should be the plan and very possible. The other yr should be at least a high 3* to solid 4*. Peterman is a high 4* without a doubt, and some try to argue a 5*. Something about his early commitment prevented the push up to 5*....which is a respectable argument. Some say it's cause rivals, scouts, espn, etc hate UT...which is not a respectable argument IMO

The OP actually has a good pt. With our depth issues throughout the roster. It's rarely mentioned how depleted we were at QB when CDD got here. We lucked out with CDD being able to get Bray to stay cause the last 2 seasons would be way way worse if that could be imagined. :face in palm:

I am curious if we ever even tossed a glance at Patton Robinette? He is not a world beater QB but he is smart, accurate, and very aware / adaptable on the field.

Those days are over. He'll have to dig in or sit.

I think he is saying that the competition in the spring will be good for bray. We all hope that Bray steps it up but he needs something to light a fire under his butt. The competition will be good for him. Don't have inside info on this but have a feeling he isn't the student of the game he should be to be the starting qb at UT. Seems to be riding his talent, and the depth situation. Just IMO that's all...

He has shown us he has the potential, but hasn't beat one of our main rivals yet. I know I know there r reasons, and not bashing him for it. Just needs to get it done and this yr is the yr to do it.

I have a gut feeling Mr Bray will step it up a notch this season. Furthermore, I believe that Dooley will not take any crap this season from any of his players. Dooley has a lot riding on this season and I believe he will open up all positions during training camp. It is my opinion whoever has the best performance in the Spring will get the start. Again, Bray is on track to have a breakout year.

Totally agree with you. And think that the competion at qb and Dooley not taking any crap will be what he needs to have that break out season we all believe he can have.

I was pretty pumped coming into this past season. First 3 games kept it up, but our defiancies showed once hunter went down. I see cdd taking care of those and this yr we'll be better prepared.
