The VOLS are in big trouble if what I saw lastnight is the best our QB can play. I was shocked at the lack of accuracy JC showed. It's been my experience that accuracy issues are very tough to change if at all. I'm very concerned about our QB play.

crompton should be on the bench.

i think everyone shares that sentiment. Crompton can't be that bad and us still expect to win.

Watch out. The "It's Clawson's fault" crowd will be in here pretty soon if you point out the obvious.

You never know if the ball is going to be overthrown by 15 yards or two-hop to the receiver.

If you think him skipping the ball off the ground can't be fixed you need a new brain. He wasn't stepping into his throws and when he did we drove the field for a tying field goal. He'll be fine if he gets his mechanics down and stops being so cocky.

Mechanics should not be an issue for a fourth year junior.

He will get it together, first game, he saw mulitple blitz packages and the O-Line didnt give him alot of time to think.

Usain "lightning" bolt would have caught (if he can ever catch a ball) if it was thrown 15 yards over... damn our WR's :eek:lol:

I dont know what game you watched but he not only skipped some balls he over threw WR by 15 yards! He threw way behind and way ahead of the wr as well. I guarantee you ask any QB coach and they will tell you accuaracy issues are one of if not the toughest thing to fix on a QB.

Crompton should get better. He may not be the star that we hoped when he signed in 2005, but he should be able to hit open receivers.

I'll give him pregame jitters for the first half but his basic mechanics should be down by now! I don't think your going to see monumental improvement from this guy.

Sometimes tough love is needed, so bench him! and bring in BJ or someone who can throw within five yards of an intended receiver.

Yes he seems to be having problems as does our kicking game, the o line, the receivers , the secondary and coaching staff. Qb play may be the biggest issue but not the only issue.

What teams do we face on our schedule gives you the confidence that our receivers will be able to always get open?

I know he overthrew the WR and underthrew the WR plenty of times. He isn't stepping into his throws. He was using mostly arm strength last night. When he did step into his throws he had some good passes.

I hope I'm wrong and this was a one game snag. But the fact is it doesnt look good. Our WR were giving him good targets to throw to and the line was giving him time.

he didn't have much room to step for the majority of his throws.

Crompton has the arm strength, that was obvious. I can't say I know this for football, but it seems like it would relate: In baseball, if a coach moves a middle infielder to third, it's not whether he immediately has the accuracy, it's whether he has the arm strength for the throw. I didn't have that arm strength and I remained a 2B, sometimes SS. I know several guys that did make the transition while I played and the coaches could teach accuracy, as long as they had the strength.

I would think that with Crompton's arm strength, a good coaching staff can get the accuracy part down over time. Can this coaching staff do it? Well that remains to be seen.

I can't see him just being this bad. He has to be better than this. I think it was just a snag and first game jitters, combined with the constant pressure he faced. If he is truly this bad, then Stephens and Coleman must be really bad.
If Crompton is no better than this he will be replaced soon. I think you see him snap out of it and show his true GOOD colors soon. At least I hope so.:crossfingers:
