QB Next Year

Thin is not near as revelant as arm strength, the ability to read the defense and quickly move thru your progressions. From what i have seen on tape Bray has a strong arm with a quick release. He has good footwork and makes quick reads. He is slow and this may be a problem for us if the line can't protect us but I like how Bray shows good pocket awareness. He is the prototypical pro form QB being thin should not matter he is a slinger and thats how CLK wants it. Just my worthless humble opinion

If Stephens doesn't convincingly have the job at the end of spring, we are in big trouble next year.

I think it will be Bray people....if Kiff can make JC into an All-SEC QB then he will want to get a head start with Bray. They might as well start him now....We will be in ATL next year this time by the way....if Monte can figure out the spread stuff we will be in ATL...chances are he will...Go Vols!!!!

I dont think next year will be too pretty in any case, so imo, put Bray in and get him the experience he needs to roll in 2011.

Look, it isn't about weight...

I dont care how much any QB weighs, or how tall he is..

It is almost impossible for any Freshman QB to come to college and play at an upgraded speed. Look at Matt Barkley. He is a legit QB at a much higher skill level than bray (at this point).. he struggled this year even with an extremely talented Line, RBs, and WRs...

The Point is, STEPHENS has been through enough practice and mop up duty to get a feel for playing QB in the SEC.

You cannot expect BRAY to come from a small Cali league and adapt to a huge football conference in a semester..

Regardless, Stephens has the arm to make a lot of throws. A Poor man's Stafford? i don't know, but get ready for the "Stephens Threads" next year because he will be the man.

As long as it's not one of these...

They scare me and they have no souls.

I've never questioned Stephens ability...I just think his instability upstairs will become a liability.

After seeing CLK sticking it out with JC, I have no doubt in my mind that they will play the better QB.

Peyton Manning 6'5" 225 lbs
Tyler Bray 6'6" 200 lbs

I don't think Bray is too fragile when comparing weight. If he comes in as an EE and gets in the weight room and food trough he will add weight before the season starts.

Manning was under 200 when he was a freshman and made it through the season just fine

Last I read, and I believe it was on Vol Nation, Bray was around 208 lbs.

He'll enroll early, have 8 months of prep from these coaches, I'd be surprised if he didn't start.

Bray is going to enroll at UT in Jan for the spring semester. He will have the 15 spring practices which will be a huge help. He will have an entire semester to be in the weight room and film room. I think it is Stephens job to lose, but we all know that coach Kiffin will have the two compete for the job. GO VOLS!!!!!

Tough schedule next year, but 8-9 wins is not out of the question:)

6'6" n 200 isn't alot of meat on the bones

Yea, but once we get him here and feed some good ole southern food, we'll fattin' him up real quick. :)

BTW: To the others that think NS will be our starter, why didn't we see more of him on the field for experience?
