QB Decision tomorrow???

Did EB get many touches on special team at the scrimmage? If we can get EB or some this young talent to catch the ball and change the field a little we have a shot at several games. If not, it puts more pressure on JC to perform and try to do something over his head.

Back before Spring practice...maybe.

NS would have had to have a really spectacular spring to overcome JC's experience. That's so valuable, especially if there is going to be an offensive scheme built at all on reading defenses.

Nope. Zero touches.

Nuke, Teague, Oku, and Rogan.

But EB barely even played.

I must admit I thought Nick would win the job this fall, but realized JC had it sewed up in the past couple of weeks. My reason was because JC just funked it up so bad last year, I didn't think he could improve enough. I don't think he has improved all that much, but he does look a little more comfortable, which helps... He still does some of the dumb stuff occasionally.
That said, he's our guy. I'm behind him...

I thought NS was our guy also. I guess missing most of the spring really put him behind from a competition standpoint. Maybe he would have never got it anyway. I wonder how long CLK's hook will be for JC. Hopefully the O-line will get their job done, and we will be able to see if JC can give us what we need or not. Kind of hard to put it all on JC when he is on his back.

Somehow I've always had the feeling that Crompton would end up the starter. Not sure why but I did.

I thought that if both NS and JC emerged from fall practice in a dead heat, then NS would get the job since he's only a junior and would have this year and next year to improve within the system. However it seems as if NS has not done enough to take the job away from Crompton.

Anyone that can throw the ball and not stare down a WR is ok with me.

The stare down thing was a major problem, yes. And I was with everyone here last year noting that he could not seem to look off a guy or go to his second or third recieviers.

But two years ago I felt pretty alone when I was saying that, when he came in to replace Ainge, his other problem was beging hurried and inaccurate.

Now, he seemed more composed here and there last year. Not always, but overall better. That left the main problem, which to me was always that he simply did not throw the ball to a place where a receiver could get it. I mean wide, 5-10 yard misses, not off the fingertips floaters.

It was downright weird sometimes.

People said the same thing when trying to compare Jackson Pollock with a realist, like Rembrant. They did not appreciate his artistic vision. Crompton is re-inventing the QB position and you are too blind to see it.

I can't envision a gameplan where Crompton will be asked to make 40 throws a game like last year. Even if we have trouble running the ball, I think Kiffin will stick with a 60/40 run/pass formula.

If we can't run the ball, I think Kiffin knows we don't have the talent to win by passing 40-50 x a game. Unless Crompton is fumbling snaps, unable to make easy throws, he will be our guy the whole year.

I'm just thankful that we aren't going to get one of those "X will start, but both will play" type of decisions, like we saw so often over the last ten years. CLK is going to pick one and go with him, which I think is the absolute best way.

You know how trendy coaches get in football. With Crompton's re-invention it'll soon become a bit passe to have quarterbacks who actually throw to receivers.

I'm conviced Crompton is just interception prone and no coaching will cure it. Everybody's money is on crompton but I think Strephens will be the pick.
