QB controversy??

What if Crompton is unable to play or is ineffective because of his foot and Nick Stephens comes in and beats UF? Do we then have a QB controversy or does Stephens win the job? What do you guys think and what would you want to see happen? It would be hard for me to argue with starting a guy who beats the gators in his first start and has a cannon for an arm even if he does have very limited experience. Stephens has thrown almost as many good looking passes as Crompton has this year and couldn't look much worse than Crompton has so far. I'm hoping it won't come to that and the gator game will be Crompton's coming out party.

I have a hard time taking people like you seriously. You come in under the guise of coherent argument, but it's really just typing to see your name on the board.

Crompton's made quite a few mistakes, but he's certainly thrown more than one, or two (by your count) good passes. You say that Stephens, who threw 2 career passes is somehow better than Crompton...I don't get it.

Though I forgot our team is defined by a couple plays, rather than a body of work.

But what if Stephens gets hurt and Coleman comes in and he gets hurt?

Lets say Tanner Shamblin steps in and leads the team to a victory, do we have a controversy?

Put a playmaker in at the QB spot if Crompton starts sucking it up...wether that be Jones, Stephens, Coleman, heck even Berry.

No QB controversy there, Stephens will be the QB (doubt that would ever happen)

Yeah, because I have nothing better to do with my day than see my own opinions typed on a message board. That's also the reason I asked for other's perspective on this. Read the original post if you can read and you will see that your post is garbage. I never said that Stephens is better. I never said that I don't like Crompton. In fact, I said the best situation is for him to work out. The fact is that Crompton is injured and has struggled. It's reasonable to wonder what the best situation would be if he's unable to go. I assure you that the coaches have thought about this plenty. So next time take the time to pull your head out of your nether regions and read the original thread topic before posting garbage and making yourself look silly. That is all.

Well from what I have seen Crompton cannot broad side of the universe and two good passes is about all I have seen him complete. If some one else gives us a better chance of winning I am all for it, but whoever it is needs to be able to run an offense better that what I have seen Crompton do. Maybe perhaps in practice this week they worked on the issues that have been trouble for him.

I totally disagree, he's shown he has enough arm to make a throw. Can he consistantly drop back and pass, I don't know.

Sorry, you are wrong. Gerald threw the ball and threw it well in HS. Go look in the recruiting thread, or maybe Millood will post.

Gerald is an electric, dynamic player that needs 15 touches a game minimum.

I wouldn't say that they know nothing about football. GJ is definitely not our best option at QB if Crompton goes down. His touches in the G-gun should go up if that happens but we will need our best RECEIVER if Crompton goes down. GJ's future is at receiver and playing him at QB should only be used to keep defenses guessing and as a way to get him the ball more when the passing game is struggling.

To answer the OP I'd have to say yes. If, for whatever reason, Stephens is put into a position to carry the load against FL and succeeds there will darn sure be controversy. If he actually looks good doing it...

if it were to happen, that would mean that Foster, Hardesty, and Creer all got 10+ touches and we rush for over 300yds against the Gators. That's the only way we'd win with Stephens QBing, heck, it's probably the only way we'll win regardless...

Why? Because the next best option at QB is the best playmaker on the team? He proved he can throw the ball in high school. Neither Stephens or him have proven they can throw in a college game, so why not put the best playmaker in there and see what he can do.
