So far there have been two names mentioned as possible QB coaches CBJ could hire

He could promote Graduate assistant Nick Sheridan, who was Offensive Coordinator and QB coach at USF and quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at Western Kentucky. He is also like Butch a Michigan native and his highly regarded by Butch and DeBord. But there is a chance he could bolt with Elder and take a position on his staff.

Then theres Mike Canales who was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and interim Head Coach for the University of North Texas as we all know, Offensive Coordinator at USF, quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at NC State where he coached Phillip Rivers , OC and QB coach at Arizona and again passing game coordinator and Wide Receivers coach at USF for a stent. He and CBJ and are good friends and have had a relationship for sometime. And we know Butch likes to hire assistants he has had a relationship with.

Looks like we will hire someone instead of moving someone on the staff right now

Tennessee: With tight ends / special teams coordinator Mark Elder leaving for Eastern Kentucky, the early feedback we’re hearing is that Tennessee might look to bring in a coach to work full-time with the quarterbacks and shift other staff responsibilities. Will update as the search progresses

It's odd to me that Sheridan was passing game coordinator and QB coach at USF but took a GA here. Just doesn't seem like a step up.

Would also love Mike Canales. Peyton isn't coming back, I don't think ever. He knows it'd make Ringley Bros look tame.

I still say Peyton should return as AD. It would not only get him back here but it would get Hart outta town....and maybe Cheek since I doubt Peyton cares for him either!!

i think your right on target with Mike Canales I have been saying it for weeks if he wasn't retained at North Texas it would make a lot of sense, watch their interaction after the game their was a lot talk between the two even a point were they walked away and came back. One thing you can say for Butch he brings in people he has has a past working relationship with that he trusts.

I would say Butch has known for a while he needs a true qb coach on staff, not necessarily that Elder would leave but that there would be turnover on the staff. Coach Matthews on his show has been speculating about a true qb coach for a couple of weeks

Also i wouldn't rule out Scot Loeffler i believe he was just let go by vtech and he and Deboard worked together at Michigan and believe he was a candidate for a job under Fulmer in 08 with Deboard.

I've come to realize that in order to be a good head coach you have to have trust and a relationship with your assistants. It would not surprise me at all if Mike Canales got the job. But I think the job is Nick Sheridan's to lose at this point.
