You don’t project wins for the future...best way to lose NOW. And I never cited “experience” as part of the BETTER. Good coaches can tell without checking a yearbook. If your coach was as legit as you’re reciting, then something got lost in the translation when it reached you...happened before.I actually played for someone who very respected and is in the TSHOF and one of the greatest TN coaches. For a program that is a multiple time champion. He is still there winning championships.
Many coaches think this way. It is smart. You just don't understand the concept apparently. To build a program you don't mortgage several more wins over the next few years for MAYBE one extra win this year.
No one said play an inferior player. If a player is really close and much younger he isn't inferior. Just less experienced. With experience he will be better.
I know you have a thing for JG.How does it go without saying KC is more the type of guy? What type is that? JG is more accurate and throws down the field more. KC scrambles more. It seems JG is more his type.
So what does that mean?
The big name qbs are 2020 anyway.
I know you have a thing for JG.
But the simple fact is that KC is someone that Pruitt chose and pursued. JG is not. Not JG's fault. Just the facts. AND... if Pruitt thought as much of JG as you do then he likely wouldn't have been so determined to find a grad transfer that was expected to come in and compete to start.
PS- your evaluation of JG... is still wrong. JG's yards per completion was 11.6. Dormady was 12.2. Chryst was 12.3. This in spite of having his numbers skewed in a couple of games where D's went into prevent at the end. JG was given as safe of a package as UT could give him last year. They didn't ask him to do many reads. They gave him a lot of short throws with no reads at all. You can tell this by how he played. You can tell by what happened when his designated target and second were covered (took lots of sacks).
He has the physical talent to be great. Mentally, he lost the job to Dormady because he wasn't ready. He played and wasn't fully ready. Unless he's made up ground, he's going to struggle in competition against a guy who reportedly already knows Helton's system.

Playing a freshman QB in the SEC is not a recipe for success
Because we have the same supporting casts as those two exceptions to the rule?
Now you used the term recipe for success, the examples pointed out were part of the recipe their respective teams had for success. So Freshmen QB's have been part of a recipe for success, just because we might have to use ingredients from ALDi's instead of Publix for a couple seasons doesn't mean we can't use the same recipe.
**worth noting that I am in no way advocating for Shrout to start, That's CJP's job and I'll leave him to it...***
And this is why no one can have a reasonable conversation with you. He was recruited by Jones. Not Pruitt. That's the whole point. You don't need to use your imagination to expand it into a personal affront to YOU.Well of course he didn't recruit JG here. He was talented enough to already be on a squad instead of running from somewhere he got his job took.
If some of the commitments coming straight out of the blue tell us anything... it is that we don't know whether KC was the "first" qb he went after or not. We do know he is a big, strong armed QB with starting experience and success in a P5 conference... who knows Helton's system.Pruitt didn't really "choose" KC like you are acting. He wasn't even the first gt we went after. Where did he say he was determined to get someone who was expected to compete to start? We only had one SEC level qb on the roster. We were desperate for more bodies in the qb room.
Yards per completion and yards per attempt are not the same thing but used in comparison to each other they CAN tell you how much a QB goes downfield. Yards per completion is just that.... how long your average completed pass is. JG's is less.JG ypa 7.17 QD 6.8 ypa KC 6.7 ypa
LOL@U. So now because a stat that directly applies is inconvenient to you man crush/idol worship it has to be "official". You can go to cfbstats. They provide attempts, completions, and yardage. So yeah... it is a stat that is "literally listed"... if you can do a little simple math.JG on average threw deeper passes. Stop using a stat that is literally not listed when you look up their passing stats.
Haven't made anything up. And no. JG didn't run the full offense at any point. They limited his reads largely because he didn't read D's well. Hopefully he puts in the work and that changes. But you REALLY need to learn to accept reality. The guy is very talented but has a LONG way to go as a leader and a skilled QB.JG ran the full offense by his third start. He was more effective and threw deeper passes than QD. Stop making up stuff. Also if Dormady played so many prevent defenses that should bump up his ypa. They were conceding passes that were 10-15 yards if they were in a prevent. Not helping your case pointing out all the freebies he got and still having abysmal accuracy and ypa.
Nope. By ALL accounts including players... QD won the job by beating JG out. Jones was DYING to start JG but he didn't win the job.Butch went with the "safe" choice in the upperclassman. JG learned the offense and took the job from QD then played better than QD did in the same offense while missing several players availabile to QD.
Why bring up who recruited them then like that tells something? And this is why no one can have a reasonable conversation with you. He was recruited by Jones. Not Pruitt. That's the whole point. You don't need to use your imagination to expand it into a personal affront to YOU.

And... QD isn't on this team. Chryst is on this team. And unless JG improves his mental preparation and matures as a person... he'll get beaten out again. FWIW, Chryst is more talented than Dormady.

That would be awesome for his future if we could put him in up to 4 games. I wasn’t aware of that new rule.I think what might be really interesting re: Shrout is the new redshirt rule....that he COULD play in up to 4 games and still redshirt. Not sure he'll get the chance to play in 4 games though unless we're way up or way down. I hope they really use that redshirt rule to our advantage.
Look I don't know if you can just say that KC/JG throw a certain way. Both guys played in different schemes. That arguement doesn't really matter right now. Because now both quarterbacks are in the same scheme.
What has been said is that both of them have been doing good in 7 v 7. Which means they both at least get the jist of our offense.
That being said everything changes when pads get put on and this fall camp will show quickly which one will be the starter. The coaches can tell who makes reads faster, who gets the ball put faster, and who has the best accuracy/ball security.
It will be a quick QB battle. Be it KC/JG/WM/JS that gets the nod. The coaches will know first week of pads who their QB is.
I agree with everything you said. It was more directed at SJT saying KC was the type of guy Helton wants but not JG when he is more of a scrambler than JG. Plus in their careers so far JG has been more accurate and thrown more deep passes. That is what Helton is said to be looking for.
Just remember the last couple of seasons you praised JG’s wheels...when you considered that a vital part of Butch’s offense. Kinda adjustable lil booger, huh?I agree with everything you said.
