NCAA Division I Womens Basketball - CBS SportsLine.com

The Rutgers' coach says it's offensive to put the term "Lady" in front of women's teams. P.S. says it's tradition and how the team is known. Stringer says there shouldn't be a distinction and there both (men and women) basketball and not any different. So what should we call the women's f.f.? This really is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard someone being offended over.

judging from how bad the Rutger's mens basketball program is, I'd say it'd be more appropriate for them to have "lady" in front of their team name.

You would think that the term "Lady" would be a compliment to women...they can never be pleased:)

"I think that you should be judged strictly on the quality of the work that you do. I don't see a distinction. If we're going to play basketball, let's play basketball."

She does realize women's basketball is not of the same quality of men's basketball right?

The ball the women play with is smaller than a regulation basketball...If there's no distinction between the men's and women's game, I suppose she should lobby to switch to a regulation size ball.

I think the points per game in women's basketball would drop by 50%.

I mean really if that's the case lets just combine the two and see how that works. Or maybe we could have college majors (men's div, I,II and III) and minors (women's div. I, II, and III) and then we won't have to use the terms women or lady.

I'm a women's basketball fan and even I know that.

Maybe instead of Lady Vols you should call them Vols-lite.

I think they should make the ball bigger. Not the same size as the mens but the ball should definatley be bigger. It's like throwing a piece a crumpled up paper.

Kinda like Cal is UCLA-lite?

Actually Cal has been refering to UCLA as Cal-lite for YEARS. Considering we're the main campus and they stole our fight song, colors, and mascott, i'd say Cal-lite is more fitting.

I guess UCLA also stole all of those championships they have...

I saw Cal's cheerleaders at the UT game last year. There is nothing fitting about Cal-lite.
