Putting Dobbs NFL debut in PERSPECTIVE

If he doesn't already have one, Dobbs may need to get a restraining order against D4H. Someone is way too obsessed.

At this point, it's way too early to call Dobbs a success or a failure. It was one game. Let's at least wait until after the season before we start making those kind of assumptions.

What is this mess? There was already a perfectly good Dobbs NFL debut thread.

Oh, wait. Maybe this is like an antimatter thread and better kept separate.

Mitch Trubisky's performance was fool's gold. He will fold in real action like Blake Bortles. Remember Bortles was another preseason all-star as a rookie.

Trubisky doesn't have Dobbs IT factor. That's why he will fail while Dobbs succeeds.

Right on cue. Trubisky's nearly flawless debut was "fool's gold", but Dobbs' rough start, especially early on proved that he's a future star. So incredibly intellectually dishonest.

Has D4H ever been wrong in his own mind?

Dear God 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻. Josh was great at Tennessee but it's obvious he has so far to go to even be a serviceable backup qb.

The steelers weren't disappointed. I don't know what anyone expected out of his first start. I thought all in all he did fine. Let's just wait and let pre season play out and see where he stands. Is he going to be the next Dak Prescott? No, but he may hang on for a few years? How did T do with the steelers?

It seems that way because you give a perverse incentive to do so. Your deification of Dobbs irritates people who see his flaws realistically but love him in spite of them.

The reaction your getting isn't to Dobbs... it is to YOU.

Couldn't have said it better

I truly believe that some want any Tennessee player who played under CBJ to fail. Proves their agenda - just how I see it.

Im one of the biggest CBJ apologists on this board. Like i said I hope Dobbs is a HoF QB. Im conviced he wont because he is inaccurate and depends on his legs to have success. Will not work in the NFL. Has nothing to do with CBJ.

You realize it's perfectly acceptable to eat crow and just say, it's his very first NFL game and it's expected. You making excuses and overanalyzing shows insecurity.

You wouldn't get so much hate if you made reasonable predictions and not jump the gun saying these players are future HOFs.

Dobbs has the tools to be a good QB but it is never certain in the NFL.

I personally enjoy D4H's analogies. Tho he may be wrong and often times over positive I think it's much needed amongst our fanbase.

I'd much rather hear how our Vols will succeed even with an over zealous breakdown, rather than the normal pesmistic negativity surrounding our fanboys.

I'd much rather hear his full, tho opionated, breakdowns than some jack wagon comparing him to Tebow and saying he will never make it.

You must love it when he says he's a genius and we're not smart enough to realize it. :yahoo:

Jesus fellas, why don't we give him some time before he's going to play in Canada... he has two years before he's even going to be thought of as a starter. He is in a good place to learn.... could he potentially be a Dak Prescott... sure but how many of those guys have come along?

That's a tough call. But I think I'll choose the option that doesn't involve the plague that is D4H

Hes not the next Dak. Dak dominated the preseason last year and didnt throw a single int. He had a higher QB rating than Wentz, Goff, and Hackenberg combined. He played well enough to go from 3rd or 4th string to starter...in the preseason.

He became starter because Romo was out. Otherwise he would NOT have started.

The mind is a powerful thing. It's crazy, D4H, how you have convinced yourself that Dobbs is better than Peyton.

Here's the "perspective". You've always been wrong. Dobbs has weaknesses. Those weaknesses showed up throughout his college career. He's worked on them. He's improved them. However his negative plays in this game were the same as the one's I've told you he had... only to have you deny it.

His accuracy is inconsistent. Even his first TD throw was late and short. NFL safeties aren't often going to fall down to let a QB get away with throws that are just a tad late and to the inside rather than over the top. There were several examples of him being "wild in the strike zone"... just like I've told you all along. More accurate passes would have given the receiver a chance to make more out of the play.

Dobb's broke the pocket resulting in the hold on his second TD pass. There's no way to know what would have happened otherwise but the hold was a direct result of the OL not knowing where Dobbs was.... because Dobbs wasn't where he was expected to be.

I've always loved Dobbs. Your non-sense makes that more difficult.

But here's the bottom line "perspective" you need to wrap your head around. If he does not fix the problems that I've pointed out and you've denied existed (even though Dobbs has worked on them)... he will have a very short career and will never be an NFL starter unless by injury.

Stop with the ifs. Either say he will never be better a starter or he will. Stop trying to give yourself cover. I've already said a million times Dobbs needs to become more CONSISTENT with his passing. I believe he will. And that is why I'm so high on him.

I'm not the one throwing out ifs. Either say you believe he'll develop or say you don't. If you think like me he'll develop that CONSISTENCY to become a great NFL QB then why do you care what I say? If not then say that clearly so we can know where you stand.

He did half right and he did half wrong. First game as a pro. Leave it at that. My biggest take away from the game was the fact his teammates celebrated his victories and reassured him when messed up. They see him in practice every day...they support him. Watch their excitement when he threw that pass. They had his back and wanted him to know they were proud. I feel like they see him as their future leader and they have faith in his ability. Just my take away.

Yup.

Dobbs definitely has the team behind him and the coaches. You can tell Tomlin likes him a lot.
