You have just lost all credibility. Crompton was TERRIBLE. Period.
I'm with you that Stephens hasn't done a whole lot but it's just ridiculous to suggest we should put Crompton back in...unless of course what you really want is for us to lose every game we have left so Fulmer is definitely fired
That's a shame. Your assessment of my credibility was my whole reason for posting.
The best way I know for us to lose every remaining game is to not score any points. Crompton was benched because the offense wasn't good with him under center. What do you propose doing with the guy under center when the offense isn't any good now?
Dear Nick, thank you so much for all you have done for us. You were there when times were tough, and gave us a shoulder to cry on. I really thought we might have something good going, but after four weeks, it just isn't working out. I'm going back to Jon, but hope we can still be friends.
That's right, I said it. Stick the Volunteer pariah back under center. Risk fumbled handoffs or passes to Fulmer in hopes that something might finally click and shake up what is easily the worst offense I have ever seen fielded at UT.
Consider that we are averaging an anemic 17.5 points per game since switching quarterbacks. That number, though terrible, doesn't really tell the whole story, however, as 14 of those points came by the defense, and 10 have come as direct results of turnovers. Even without discounting the meaningless, phantom penalty aided late touchdown last night, that puts the offense responsible for 11.5 per game. How many games is that going to win?
At least with Crompton, there was the possibility of getting better. Right now, I see an offense that doesn't do anything well. Change it back, or change it up, but change it. I actually couldn't believe we kept running the same personel out there last night time and time again to do the same thing, when it obviously wasn't working (and hasn't all season.)Doing the same thing three times in a row and then punting is going to continue to get the same results.
This should answer your idiotic statement
Which spectacular offensive performance should I be examining? The great quarterback rating in a 13 point performance against UNI? The 130 tough yards against MSU? Maybe the 57% completion percentage in a blowout loss to Bama?
Did anybody, at any point, think trotting Nick Stephens out there again and again gave us a shot to win Saturday? To watch our offense perform the way it is performing, with no marked improvement, without wanting to change something is idiotic.
I will repeat it again: the offense is not any better right now than it was against Auburn, which was Crompton's worst game. We just fielded an offense which was able to score 3 points while the game was in contest despite a blocked punt and a fumble recovery on the 5. We have seen scoreboards light up at halftime with 3, 7, 6, and 3 point performances in our last 4 games. Why in God's name would anybody want to keep seeing that?
Neither has looked like an SEC level QB but Stephens has a 123.95 to 95.83 lead in passer rating over Crompton while having 2 more touchdowns (in fewer attempts) as well as having 0 int's to Crompton's 4.
Call it comparing the mediocre but if I had to choose one to play it'd be Stephens in a landslide.
