Put Jon Crompton Back In

Crompton was bad. Saturday night would've been a lot worse. The problem is the one who replaced him could be good given time, but you can't get a lot better if you're only watching and never given a chance until it's too late. I'm not a better cook because I watch cooking shows on TV. This is nothing but on the job training for Stephens.

For the love of God you people are dense. How many times has Nick Stephens gotten bailed out by countless DBs/LBs who simply didn't catch his easy interceptions?
Watch each game and you'll see throws directly to them, which they just dropped. You may also see a few WRs forced over and over again to defend the pass as opposed to catch the pass, since they are never thrown at a spot where they can catch the ball.

So, being as how we're dense and all, you're for putting cromp in or no?

I'm not making a pick, because at this point, I see the same QB on the field no matter what jersey is on the back.

Not really. He severely underperformed against teams that he should not have underperformed against. If you are an SEC caliber QB, you should be able to step in to a game at any time and DOMINATE Northern Illinois. Hell, you should be able to dominate Mississippi State for that matter. Luckily, our defense was able to play offense for us...

How much of that is a coaching problem? Or is he just not a good QB, no matter who coaches him?

I think with Cutcliffe here, they would at least be respectable, partly because the system he would run would favor them.

I agree with the Cutcliffe comment. I always thought Cut was the key to success at UT. Can't spell Cutcliffe without UT.

How long before we see this billboard "CUTCLIFFE"?

Ahh the backup QB- always the most popular guy on the team.

When does the guy under center who can't get anything done lose the coveted title of popular backup qb?

At least our defense is getting a chance to rest for a minute or two instead of heading back out after a failed handoff.

No it isn't. Check our time of posession.

Without searching individually, I'm willing to bet that every single Stephens supporter in this thread at one time called for Crompton to be benched because he was ineffective. How ineffective does Stephens have to be before he gets the same treatment? At this point, I do not think it is possible for our offense to perform bad enough for you guys to want to change its leader.

We are certainly not any more productive with Nick taking snaps; I would argue that we are less.

It's broke in so many places. QB, OL, WR, RB....nothing is clicking and we need that leader to step up. But it is too late this year, we need one for next year and Stephens hasn't showed it. Crompton is a joke....what have we come to?

I think our entire problemis the Off Coord. Not ALL of our players are this bad...but with this crappy scheme it sure looks like it. GET RID OF CLAWSON...HE IS THE COMMON DENOMINATOR!

Well cotton looking back on it. Leaving crompton in would probably have us right where we are now anyway. Both qb's are not getting any time to set and throw. The protection has been horrendous. Lets face it. The whole offense is a trainwreck and someone's going to get the axe for it.

Clawson is not taking over, which he should. Or he has complete control and just sucks. i just don't have the sources to know

For starters he'd have to lower his performance to Jon Crompton's level.

Plus, these "Stephens defenders" are simply responding to the thread title. Stephens has simply been better, not that that's saying much.

How many times has Stephens fumbled a snap or hand off while going in for an apparent TD or backed up inside his own 3....how many times has he laid the ball on the ground and given the other team a TD...how many times has he locked on to one receiver without even attempting to go through a progression...how many times has he thrown it directly in the ground or up in the stands because he obviously is feeling pressure that isn't really there?

I'm with you that Stephens hasn't done a whole lot but it's just ridiculous to suggest we should put Crompton back in...unless of course what you really want is for us to lose every game we have left so Fulmer is definitely fired

Crazy. the onoly reason to put crompton back in is to not hurt stephens for next yr. crompton is a cocky a hole who has nothing to b cocky about :fool:
