Put away the pitchforks. (Article.)

To be honest I was not nervous at all.

Great teams find ways to pull out games like that. We did it. I have zero concern moving forward.

If anything my faith in team 120 has gone up. We might end up getting the bounces that went against us last year. And that's what every championship team needs...

You got it....

I do agree with this. You don't return everyone from a season ago and conclusively think that you got somehow worse because of one underwhelming game. It's just not logical.

05 returned alot. It's logical that this team may still be the same and maybe not better. We'll see

I have faith.

I'm very spiritual.

I also had a premonition a few nights ago in a dream that we would be tied with App State in the 4th quarter. You don't have to believe me now since its after the fact but in my dream even though the game was tied, we had momentum cause we just scored.

As the game played out the way it did, I thought back to my dream and felt confident we would pull this out.

Article states that we should not be concerned about the play calling because we were holding back is BS. Nothing but wishful thinking. How stupid does a coach have to be to not adjust once it has been determined that his game plan (not show anyone anything) is not working? That was determined early and ASU lead the whole game. It is and should be a concern. It is 100% up to Debord to prove he can call plays not some writer trying to convince me or anyone else that he just brought one page of the playbook. IT's not '98.

Remember how average we looked last yr. against N. TX. I've seen Fla. look average the opening weekend against a smaller school and then beat us a couple of weeks later. Heck even Bama's D looked bad a couple of yrs. ago the first game against W. VA. They moved the ball up and down the field; but every time they got down in the red zone they would screw up (overthrown pass to a wide open WR in the endzone fumble etc).

Great, well said article. I too was very nervous all night, and was kinda let down. But we can't give up on this team, because my god, they didn't give up on us last night. They showed up when it mattered. Here's to a great week of practice, and a Virginia tech ass whooping!

https://orangeandwhitereport.com/put-away-the-pitchforks-ccd75b011a2e#.bdmob8zax

Well, if you are going to preface a great article, which I thank you for sharing, we need to take it a step further, Dallas.

You do realize what we put here on the internet can be read anywhere, right? I say this, because if what was said here was between 3 or 4 guys at a table at IHOP or Waffle House, it might be OK to be wide open.

But when the whole world can read it, guess what? All it does is get passed around to players at Appy State or Virginia Tech to motivate them. So, just as food for thought, and after seeing where disrespecting opponents nearly got us last night, think twice before feeling it impresses anyone because you can type ass whooping. It's college football, not a dying beast like fake ass pro wrestling.

Great article. I just dont understand all the people on here and all over jumping ship and thinking we will have a horrible season or honestly any different than the expectations we had before the game started.

Teams have bad days/games. Upsets happen all the time, and guess what? While it looked like we might be upset last night, we still came away with the win. Just because we didnt win in dominating fashion doesnt mean we have a terrible team. What matters in the end is the W. The team showed they can do what it takes to win the game. When we play VT, Florida, Georgia, Bama, and everyone else, it doesnt matter if Dobbs throws for 400 yards or 40 yards. If we do what we need to do to win the game, that is all that matters.

Was i nervous and pissed last night? Of course, but do i still have faith in my Vols to have a great season? Of course.

Doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile. A win is a win.

I was concerned with this matchup all along. Never bought into the 20pt spread and I never get over confident with match ups like this. You had to look at Appy State's history, stats (won 17 of last 19), returning starters and know they weren't coming in to Neyland to lay down for us. Face it, App State is a tough, well coached team and for whatever reason we didn't play well. But, it's a W. And Butch once again has some work to do.

I mean...really dude. Just stop.

You should see his posts in the politics forum. HE IS THE SINGLE MOST DELUSIONAL HUMAN I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. I WILL BE 40 NEXT YEAR.

D4h is absolutely, clinically insane
Read for yourself. He is a miserable, brainwashed racist to an extent i have never seen before. I come from a mixed family. Thought i had heard it all. I was so very wrong. Check out the Colin Kaepernick refuses to stand thread. It speaks for itself.

No. Because we would've lost.

Its about wins and losses and we're 1-0. That's all that matters.

Uneducated fans like yourself can jump off a ledge because the game didn't go as most expected. I know enough about football to know games like this happen. They happen every year to every team.

App State is better than their name. We're better than that performance. Its as simple as that.

I'm uneducated?

After you just said you weren't concerned a single bit during or after the game?

Are you serious?

I have a lot of respect for CBJ as an individual just because the programs seems to have a much better feel than in the past. He may pull the wings off of flies in private but I don't think so. As far as I know he didn't berate individuals on the team. He maintained his cool during the game and accepted blame for the poor preparations during the post game interview. I've heard many teams' coaches acknowledge the play of the competition but I've never seen one go up and address the whole opposing team to praise their performance. Very cool indeed.

In a few weeks we will look back and decide either that this game was the eye opener that the Vols needed or that this game was the first indicator that the kool aid we have been chugging all summer now has a bad taste.

"We'll see." said the Zen master.

If you were not even a little nervous as that game went into the fourth quarter last night you are either not a Vol fan or you are a liar.

I've been a hardcore UT fan since 1985 and I can honestly say I wasn't nervous. I think maybe my brain blocked out the thought we could lose to App State. I just felt we would find a way to win. If this were a few years ago I would have been chewing my nails off.

But you predicted we'd win 69-6.....kinda contradicts your "premonition."

True fan police gonna fan police. Every year we are told how we are allowed to feel about the product on the field.

Every year.

And in an extremely huge twist, that's exactly what you guys are doing.
He said he felt good about everything all in all and you guys are attacking the hell out of him.

Exact same posters every year.
If you don't throw your hands up in the air and declare defeat, you get snarky comments and smart azz remarks.
Followed by one of you playing the victim card like you just did.
Like you're the ones who catch grief for not thinking like everyone else.
Hypocritical bs plain and simple.

You know?

I'll put the pitchfork down if, in 2 weeks, we're 3-0 and App State is 2-1 (means they beat Miami at Boone).

That will tell us where we are. In 2 weeks. No more and no less. If it was a purely bland gameplan where the team (coaches and players) were caught looking ahead to Bristol and Florida where the team was overwhelmed with preseason hype and seemingly everything going against them (muffed punt, JRM ejection and no-call TD back-to-back-to-back that affected the most senior leaders on team) I can settle for that.

But not until we get the Florida monkey off our back. VT won't matter to me win or loss if we lose to Florida.

Awesome read. I have to admit i was very upset last night. I really do think we have a special team this year. I think team 120 will do big things. We just have to stick by these boys and not give up on them so easily. Go Vols

Great article. No panic here. We got the W and that is what is most important. Our boys will put in the work over the next week and Team 120 will look like a whole new team next Saturday in Bristol.

I also have said we'll go 15-0 but my premonition says we'll be 14-1.

I go against my gut quite often because I'm superstitious. You'll never see me predict a loss or even a close win.

He congratulated them? Was hoping he was asking Satterfield for tips.
