Pure speculation here but do you think Hammy is hedging his bets?

What is this book everyone speaks of? I consider myself a huge Vols fan and I know nothing. Should I be reading this "on Rocky Top" book?

P.S. Randy Edsall would be my number 1 choice to replace Kiffin this guy can flat coach and def doesnt get enough credit. Mark my words in the next two to three years this guy makes a big splash in coaching!

CLK has enough issues dealing with the ncaa where he's at why would he want to go somewhere thats getting ready to be put on probation. Any recruit or coach that goes to usc at this time needs their head examined.

I really don't think that Lane is going to go anywhere.....If Monte had decided to retire after this year like a lot of people were conspiring that he would, I think we would have something to worry about, I also don't think that Hamilton will let him leave....He knows Lane has us on the way back up and will do what it takes to keep him...Not to mention the fact that the NCAA is about to come down hard on USC..JMO

I read it. You're not missing anything. You'd be better off taking that $25 and buying yourself a case of Samuel Smith's India Ale.

pure speculation here, but what if Kiffin just ascends to heaven.

we will be lucky if he doesnt just retire now and go into the hall of fame. after all he won 7 games at tennessee. what if alabama fires saban and offers him the job. the patriots would fire belichick if they though lane kiffin were available. all these scenarios are about as probable.

I didn't think too much of it, but I was in the minority. A lot of posters on here liked it a lot. As long as you don't expect there to be any actual new or inside information about Fulmer's last season, you might enjoy it. I thought the fluff to meat ratio was disappointingly huge; other people thought it was just cool to be reading a book about UT football. Sort of depends what your expectations are.

Travis is good for an article and would probably be a decent columnist (if he isn't one already...) but for a whole book? Nah.....

edit.... I see he IS in fact a columnist for CBS sports.... I gotta get out more....

What!? You weren't on the edge of your seat as Travis chronicled his trip to Columbia in UT's equipment truck?

I can't decide which was more exciting, that or the part where he got to sit in the stadium and polish the helmets with the equipment managers. The whole thing was a page-turner.

When I saw that there were whole chapters devoted to "Clay's Most Exciting Vols Wins Ever" and "Clay's Most Disappointing Vols Losses Ever," I realized I probably could have waited for the paperback.

what makes you think usc would hire Kiffin as headcoach. I like our coach but he really has't
proved he is a great coach yet.

I do not think that Kiffin fills the need that USC has. USC needs a big name to counteract the negative situation that they are in. They have to think like Alabama did 3 years ago and shoot for the moon. That is the only way they save that program from a 10 year lull.

But I do agree that if Kiffin did go Hamilton would be tied to that ship and he had better have the resume polished and ready to go. I think that he pulled the only rabbit out of the hat last year and all that is left is rats.

I really don't think CLK is seriously in the mix as a first line choice for the USC job but if it actually did materialize what then? D o you think Hammy is getting together a list of possible replacements? I'll hang up & listen.....

He keeps a list and updates it frequently.

Well according to an article that came out after CLK was hired, Troy Calhoun was Hammys 2nd choice...UT running the triple option...Wouldn't that have been interesting.

I remember reading somewhere last year when the coaching search was going on that the triple option was not Calhouns forte but that he was running the offense that he had inherited with the players that had been signed to run it..

If Kiff were to bolt to the sunny shores of SC, Randy Edsal and Jim Harbauh (sp) should be at the top of Hammys list.. It is more than obvious that either guy can coach!!!
