He was very talented at juking in traffic changing directions with very little effort. I do believe he will make a great returner and will have some sort of role in the offense. I know many will say the talent that he will be competing against will be greater; however, the way he is able to move is incredbile. I watched UT games in person, and many high school games this year in person....there is little doubt in my mind that he can't be very successful at UT!!!

What I want to know is can he catch with 100 plus k in attendance and on national tv.

yea.. this reminds me, I was watching VTech play, the announcers at Kickoff mentioned to keep an eye on the VT returner, a true freshman that everyone was real big on .. the camera showed him, then zoomed in.. dude looked like he was hyper ventilating, the kick went about 6 yards deep, he still tried to bring it out and got to around the 10 ..

Can he? Yes. Will he? Hope so. I am leaning more towards eventually he will. Your making it sound like you have accomplished this feat and you question his ability to do it.

Nope.Never played college fb.

I'm with ya.I hope he or whoever coach Dooley decides to give the job to can tho.After the last couple of years I have to question everybody's ability to catch the freakin punt.

I vote for Justin Hunter myself. He's pretty fast and has good hands. Those are two things we didn't have this past season at PR. He could be a weapon returning punts if you ask me.

I'd rather our best WR not be returning punts. Especially with his height.

Hopefully DY or one of the other freshman can be consistent and win the job.

I think with the exception of the maryville game, Young was able to field all punts and not fumble the football. 100,000 could make a difference. I still feel he will get comfortable eventually. Not saying there wont be few rough patches early either.

Brian Randolph Stats: Senior, 162 tackles (98 solo), 9 pass breakups, 4 interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Ran for 1,068 yards and 16 TDs, caught 17 passes for 414 yards and a pair of scores, returned seven kickoffs for 191 yards and a TD. Junior campaign, tallied 125 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 18 pass breakups, 3 INTs and a pair of sacks...Offensively, topped 1,300 yards rushing while scoring 12 TDs...Compiled 198 tackles and three INTs as a sophomore in 2008.

yea i mean dont get me wrong im sure there have been plenty of stud punt returners that were freshman...but to be able to find a player that is mature enough to field those punts in that type of atmosphere ...hes gotta be a playmaker

The coaches are designing plays for Young already.....8-10 touches a game ...he will have the chance to have an immediate impact in the fall.....

the chances of him playing are 100% in the fall...he is already gonna be the starter at KR/PR and will have a percy harvin type role in Tennessee's offense...


the coaches are very excited about what he bring to the table and the plan is to not only let him return kicks but get touches on offense as well.

I think I see where you're trying to go with this but the fact that DY is not even close to the threat PH was as a WR hurts that comparison. Perhaps closer to a Trindon Holldiay? (though DY isn't that fast)

I wouldn't either but we had Gerald Jones try it. We had Janzen Jackson try it. Both of those guys were starters. He's just a weapon and we haven't had a PR/KR threat in a good while. I do think Arnett might be a solid guy for the job but he's young and inexperienced.

I love the wasted scholarship statements on DY, assuming he could conceivably only catch a kick and never tote the skin or snag a pass... Judge in four, not before
