Pulling for SEC teams

I understand why many UT fans are hesitant to cheer for other SEC schools

Your historic rival (Bama) and modern divisional rival (UF) have had more success recently.

Since UF started the BCS winning streak, I want to see it continue....unless UGA somehow makes the title game.

I want Bama and Fla to lose every game. Bama couldn't lose enough during the era of the Mike's. Those were some fun times.

Uh, Bueller, you're the one who said people who want others to suck and UT to go undefeated means that we wish UT was in the WAC. I clearly pointed out that UT has gone undefeated and done it while in the SEC. Do you even know what the hell you are arguing? Apparently not.

Hmm. Yeah I'm gonna go with you have no clue what you're talking about. What point does it make that UT won the NC in 98? The SEC certainly did not suck in 98, hence going undefeated playing in that conference meant we deserved a shot at the NC. You realize if UT had played in the weakest conference in football (which is apparently what you want) we wouldn't have go to the NC? Just ask Hawaii 5 years ago.

You somehow equate not wanting to root for Tennessee's most hated rivals with wanting Tennessee to play in the WAC. You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

We play Bama, FLA, UGA, KY, every year. You want them all to go 0-12 right? Because they're rivals and you hate our rivals?

If they go 0-12, they suck. You play a bunch of sucky teams.

If UT was in the WAC, we would play a bunch of sucky teams.

Is this really that hard to understand?

That's fine everybody keep ducking the question because you know the answer is contradictory to your point.

You either 1) want everyone in our conference to suck, thus putting us in a crappy conference (such as the WAC)

or you 2) want us in a strong conference. The only way for the conference to be strong is for the majority of the teams to be successful. So if you want your conference to be strong, you must support teams in the conference when they are playing out of the conference.

So you either pull for your conference, or you wish we were in the WAC.

Game set match
No one has ducked your question you have a flawed argument. It does not matter who you, me, or the man in the moon root for it simply does not have any bearing on their success or failure. You should ask yourself why you care if other teams in the SEC win or lose. Its a loser mentality.

And yet no one can give a valid argument against my "flawed logic"?

we compete against those teams for recruits. Them winning NC's does not help UT get any better. It's a ridiculous idea to think conference pride helps UT in some way

I'll buy your argument when you can link me a player choosing UT because "they get to play bama every year and they are really good"

It's not about "we play Bama and they are good". It's about "hey high school prospect who is considering GA Tech, Clemson, and UT...... if you come to UT you get to play in the best conference in the nation".

How much worse would our recruiting be if our conference sucked?

if he's that good then UF, bama, LSU, UGA, etc will all be on him too. Showing them our crystal football from 98 doesn't really have the same effect anymore

The SEC has always been good in football. It doesn't matter who I want to win or lose. Your argument is stupid. The SEC is always going to get a shot at a title because they are always pretty good top to bottom. The SEC will never be like the WAC so your argument is stupid and irrelevant. That's what I'm saying.

Me hoping that Bama and Fla loses every game has zero bearing on UT being a good team and getting a shot at a title. If UT is good enough, they'll get their shot. There are very few times where a SEC team is going to get left out like Auburn did in 2004.

Bama, LSU, Fla and UGA being better than UT over the course of the last few years has really done wonders for UT's program now hasn't it? See how stupid that looks and sounds? UT has sucked for the better part of the last 5 years and those teams being good has done nothing for UT's program but keep them further down.

BECAUSE

THEY

WIN

When they start losing for years on end, you no longer deserve a shot at the title for beating them. Especially if the PAC-12 and Big 12 are putting out teams that win week in and week out

Chatt.. do you honestly believe our rivals win games because you root for them? The answer to this should be no, unless you own several foil hats. Ok since your cheering does not help our rivals win then why cheer for them? There are tons of other points made throughout the thread you choose to ignore or dismiss because of your flawed logic.

Ok look at it this way:

You have 3 undefeated teams that are in major conferences:

Team 1 is in the PAC 12 and goes undefeated in the regular season. The PAC 12 has 5 teams in the top 10, all of which team 1 has beaten.

Team 2 is in the Big 12. Also undefeated. The Big 12 has 4 teams in the top 10, all of which team 2 has beaten.

Team 3 is in the SEC. Also undefeated. The SEC has zero teams in the top 10. Team 3 has not had to play a team in the top 10.

3 undefeated teams. Which 2 go to the national championship?

Again. Game set match.

Tim, orangeballs, pj........ one of you try to dispute that

Are you being dumb on purpose?

how does any of that help unless UT is the undefeated team?

good grief, we have to be getting trolled. At least I hope so

Good......... contribution?

It is impossible to argue with trolls, toddlers or religious fanatics. They do not operate in the same realm of reality as the rest of society. Logic and reason is wasted on each of these groups. There would be literally no point in making an argument against you. Everyone else has done a fine job and has disproven your idiotic point.
