Don't know if this has been posted yet, so here goes....
Tony Kornheiser: Is Lane Kiffin smart to publicly take on Urban Meyer?
Michael Wilbon: Yes, what's he got to lose? First of all, he is going to rouse the troops where he is. Alright, it's been a while since they had something to cheer for in Tennessee. And secondly, which has nothing to do with anything, I sort of like this. I like Lane Kiffin going in there and mixing it up. Cause he got the kid. He got the player who is the next Percy Harvin. And any time you can just sort of thumb your nose at Jeremy Foley, Mr. Righteous AD down at Florida...I like it.
Tony Kornheiser: Let me just have you back up just for a second. Urban Meyer has won two national titles. Kiffin got to Tennessee on Tuesday. Little soon to say the quote "I love the fact that Urban had to cheat and still didn't get him". Which turns out to not be cheating.
Michael Wilbon: Okay, the SEC has come out. We know that Jeremy Foley, the Florida AD, said "You slandered our coach, it's not cheating...you can text or call a recruit who is on a visit to your school." It does seem cheesy.
Tony Kornheiser: (laugh) Yeah...right.
Michael Wilbon: I still like it. Go in there and mix it up. Go in there and start throwing some punches right away. That's the only way he is going to get things going in Tennessee.
Tony Kornheiser: Do you remember when Jim Harbaugh went to Stanford? Who is the first guy he took on?
Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser: Pete Carroll
Tony Kornheiser: Pete Carroll at USC...the best program, the best program...took them on. Rick Neuheisel gets to UCLA...takes on USC right away. This isn't good by Lane Kiffin. This is GREAT by Lane Kiffin.
Michael Wilbon: Necessary.
Tony Kornheiser: Because Florida is the big dog there, right, and you want to beat them and you just say "We're here. We took your kid. We made fun of you. Good.
Michael Wilbon: I took a swing at you...like it.
Tony Kornheiser: Good, good.
