'26 PSU Transfer Edge Chaz Coleman (Tennessee)

He wanted the guys we played up front this year, too. Was it missed evals? Poor S&C? Both?
From what Hubbs and AP said recently, RG was not satisfied with the group we had up front going into last season and asked for more resources from Banks and they decided to go in a different direction despite his wishes. They also suggested that this miscalculation by Banks was part of the reason he was let go

Dumb of Banks to not listen to RG. Always listen to those have been around longer than you, especially ones that have been as successful as RG.

sounds like Timmy B

Guy was horrible.....didnt recruit, didnt develop, didnt gameplan, didnt adjust in game.

Not sure he did anything throughout the week. Just took the same vanilla gameplan into every week no matter the opponent or year. Dude was so easy to play against.

I'm not convinced Banks did anything other than sit in his office and blow leaves all week

Coleman had 1 sack this year and he's perceived as the best pass rusher in the portal? Weird
Coleman is a stud. It's not to discredit others. Also, why are you comparing stats from a true freshman with limited action to a sophomore who had a mediocre season by most measures.

Penn State doesn't want to lose him, even though they can admit the writing has been on the wall that he'll head to OSU for sometime.

Like almost every portal player, he's a good prospect but wildly over valued and over hyped right now.

I'm not saying your wrong. It just seems to me like the only reason people think he's a stud is that he was a former 5-star recruit, and I don't subscribe to that logic. Once they have a season of college ball under their belt that's all I care about and his college production has been average. He's no Derek Barnett (10 sacks as a freshman) or James Pearce, but he expects to be paid like he is. He's an undersized DE (220 pounds) who needs another year or two of development. If he's demanding top dollar I'd pass.

I don't view Ross as having a mediocre season. He had to split time with two others, but I feel like I noticed him making plays every game.

well if he isn't satisfied with them... he sure as **** won't be satisfied with 2026 crew. We have work to do.

I think was my biggest issue w/ Banks. I know that stats might paint a different picture, but we always seemed to telegraph our scheme. Our blitz packages were pretty obvious and our linebackers were not fast enough to get home the past few years. That delayed blitz would be good if we had speed and we didn’t . There’s a lot that I could point to, but I don’t think Banks defense kept offensive coordinators up at night . Some of the personnel we have had might’ve required more film, but schematically I don’t think we were too complex.

I got you, maybe that's the case around here. I'll suggest do a little digging into Coleman regarding outlets from both OSU and Penn State, and then you will understand the flashes of brilliance and future potential. He's expected to go pro after his Junior year.

Also, it's damn difficult to have Barnett numbers when you miss a large portion of the season and are playing behind a 6th yr SR as a True Freshman.

They close well every signing day.
It's the evals before signing day that appear to be the problem. And if that's the case are other programs really all that desperate for our recruits in the first place?

I don't want to discredit Ross. I really like Ross. People seem to keep comparing general stats from Ross to Coleman but leaving out QB pressures and I'm also pointing out that Coleman was in a similar situation, but also missed games with an injury.

"He's crazy athletic, explosive," former Penn State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles said. "He plays to the echo of the whistle, chases the ball all over the place. I call him the Chazmanian Devil."

Our issues were definitely partly on injuries. Can’t say losing our starting 2 cornerbacks, starting STAR and our starting 2 defensive tackles (for most of the year) wasn’t a problem. Oh Arion Carter having double turf toe. That’s 6 out of 11 defensive starters, that’s not just a “oh injuries happen”
Injuries happen, still have to deal the edge which or ends did a horrible job at. I wonder how much of our woes were due to philosophy.

Injuries happen, but half of your starting defense? Not normal. And the point i was making about big ass dudes inside..the offensive line has to direct more attn to guys like that which frees up James Pearce or Jospehs to wreak havoc. We didn’t have that this year. No double teams necessary to block hobbled Jackson Moi.

Reminds me of 2016 when JRM, DKJr, Sutton, McDowell, O’Brien, Sapp and Kmac all got hurt
