I would like to think that since Coleman played for Coach Knowles this past year, he would at least give him the courtesy of a visit and discussion. With that said, I'm guessing LSU offered him what he was asking (or more), but with an ultimatum, take it now and no more visits or leave and they offer someone else.
Of course this is only my opinion from far away.
