there's still a lot of time left before national LOI day. alot can happen between now and then (academic ineligibility, decommits, etc..). UF has the edge in quality, but UT has the edge in quantity.... depends on how you look at the needs of the team, in all honesty, to see who is sucessful. i.e.: Notre Dame addressing the DB, LB, D Line need is a must... so if we dont land some impact players, i'll be disappointed (even though we have recruited an all-world offense)

UT Avg Stars = 3.43
UF Avg Stars = 3.48

Thanks for playing.

Where is the quality at the top right? The lower ends bring the average down. Now go shine your helmets and get you some gel to spike your incoming QB's hair.

so, let me get this straight.... just to get my bearings:

you are telling me to ONLY count the number of EXCELLENT players in the class while omitting those who are ranked lower? I'm sorry, but if you want to compare the classes between UF and UT, my objective statement was completely truthful: UT has more, UF has a better star average (if you trust that sort of thing).

For you to subjectively say "we have more good players... forget about the ones that we are bringing in that aren't as good" is preposterous and absurd. If I omit all players from Notre Dame's class who aren't 5* players, then ND has a 5* avg, and we are the best class. Of course the lower end brings the average down... and the higher end brings the average up... that is why it is an "average"

Objectively speaking, Florida's average is better than Tennessee's.

OK, let me say this for you slower. UT's top end is better. When one uses the average it takes into account the OTHER end of the spectrum.

you never said that initially. you said:

UF is still ranked behind UT in recruiting. :)

and i said that UT has more, UF has better quality. That statement was completely true, given the link that you provided.

I will agree with you that UT has more 5* athletes, but when one considers the quality of a recruiting pull, one has to consider every single player. b/c if you have one mediocre player for every one outstanding player, results will be mixed (see: ND this year). I would take a better average over a stacked high end b/c these athletes will have to play with each othe, and a few stars can't offset other duds.

Never mind. I will waste no more time on a domer.

No one knows what kind of "quality" these players are at until they suit up in the orange and white or orange and blue. That's why I take every ranking with a grain of salt. There's no doubt there solid at the High School (5,000 attendance) but wait till they get in front of 100,000 and are on ESPN and see what they play like then we can crown the recruiting champs.

Anyone remember OJ Owens I think that was his name. I remember when we recruited him he was supposed to be the next great DB? What did he do?

UF is back ahead, though we will get a commitment from another 4* DT on Christmas. We should end up above UF in the end because we will take 30-31. That is unless they take a big class but they took a big one last year so I doubt it.

Domer, don't worry. VolBeef doesn't work well with facts.

How am I wrong? He is using the average and I am using the top end to determine quality. I would rank USC with the highest quality class right now due to the amount of 5 star kids they have.

They do, njuneardave got found out as a domer posing as a UT fan and got sent packing back to his domer boards. At least "domer" here doesn't hide his allegiances. :p

In the words of Vinnie Barbarino "I'm so confused". Thought I was in the Vols forum and must've morphed to the recruiting forum with no effort expended.

Hey, the more the merrier. But I gotta figure they have nothing of interest to say there, or he would not be on the Vol forum...

way to be judgemental. b/c i like a different team than you, i am automatically worthless. nice deduction. i came on here for some good discussion.... i respect the opinions of Vol fans.... i don't write them off b/c they like a different team. mature.

The gap has even widened more. I'm sure this thread was started before John Brantley (Gatorade National Player of the Year) was added. Scout's ranking are probably even more of a gap since they tend to rate UF's commits higher than rivals. You know what? It really doesn't matter. The Gators are SEC champs and playing for the National Championship in 10 days.... I mean, that's what really matters, doesn't it?
