We discovered that the intruders had planted a file on one of our Sony Online Entertainment servers named Anonymous with the words We are Legion.
Sony's response to the US House of Representatives
Guess the "for once we didn't do it" comment was just smoke.
They do, but they will never be able to defeat the pirates. Whenever they come out with a security fix or some sort of new anti piracy measure, they get smacked in the face with something from scene that defeats it. It is a neverending battle, but in this case with PSN, pirates hacked the system and hurt the community they are supposed to be helping. Sony really doesnt give a rats arse compared to the user who this hack has ultimitely hurt. Say what you like about piracy, but most of the time their target is the companies and not the user. In other words, this group Anonymous is the worst type of pirate group and I hope they get what they deserve.
This anonymous may not be directly responsible but they helped lay a cover. I'm fine with guys wanting to skirt buying a game but it's theft so get over a company trying to stop it. If everyone just stole games then there would be no games. Other hacks are solely for cheating which to me is also pretty low rent. I used to be more into that when I was a broke college kid but as an older guy working to get paid I have no issue with companies working to protect their product. Stoopid Sony should have been working harder to protect my data but I still don't agree with the free speech bs these criminals are pimping. I say criminals because their posting stuff about employees families and stealing documents. That isn't serving my interests at all. For any of you modding or hacking fight the good fight but just remember us paying for games are the ones that are truly providing you games to steal.
