They shouldn’t have pushed digital tickets so hard until they got stadium WiFi. You can’t get a signal to save your life in or around Neyland

It's like they didn't tell you this weeks and months in advance in order to avoid these issues.

Oh, they did

Oh, they did

Did they really?

I just purchased tickets to a later home game. I went to the UT ticket office site to buy them. After selecting them and hitting the purchase button, i was informed that a third party - Ticketmaster - would be handling my purchase, and for an outrageous fee amount. That wasn't told to me before I hit the purchase button, nor the fee amount. Then, I find by reading on Volnation - not via that UT ticket office - that the tickets need to be transfered into a digital wallet because THE TICKETS DON"T WORK AT THE ADMISSION GATES IF THEY AREN'T in a digital wallet. That was news to me. Neither the UT ticket office or Ticketmaster told me that. It was by pure dumb luck that I read about that here on Volnation. Instead, Ticketmaster tried to get me to hold the tics in their app on my phone, which wouldn't have solved the problem.

All I wanted was to go to a football game. To do that, I find out the hard way I have to pay outrageous handling fees and then I STILL CAN'T GET ADMITTED TO THE GAME unless I get an app on my phone that I don't want. I'm still researching which digital wallet might be out there that doesn't charge an outrageous fee and doesn't partner with the IRS. Anyone have any suggestions on that?

1. Pretty sure you can use the tickets just fine without putting them in a digital wallet. It’s just that putting them in the wallet puts them directly on your phone rather than relying on WiFi or cell signal to pull them up when you get to the gate.

2. Apple Wallet and Google wallet are both free and private.

1) If that's true, then why do we have this thread going on? Do you have a different experience?
2) Thanks for that info.
