PS4 or Xbox One?

I was leaning towards XB1 until I got "locked" out of XBL. I've had an account for 8 years but have forgotten my password and no longer have access to the email associated with my account. I've tried everything on their site and spent hour+ on the phone with no luck. Extremely frustrating.

If you don't have the email/any info on it, that is not their fault.

I understand that it's their fault but they could be a little more willing to help someone who has been a long time customer and would continue being if I could use my account/gamertag.

Doesn't seem like it would be that big of a mountain to move for them to verify that you're you.

Think about this.....

They cannot verify anything except a name. Unless he has a CC on file, I doubt there is anything that can be done. All they have is a name. Anyone could get that and try to call for a new password.

Actually, you should be relieved that MS takes security seriously. I know its frustrating but the mistakes and error are the users fault here. Unless you have purchased games on that account, who really cares though?

Create a new account and move along...assuming no purchased games. And even then, its not something MS can help with because they really don't have any way to verify its you without a CC on file.

You're correct, my friend. I misunderstood the situation.

True. I've always appreciated their security, despite it being a pain in the ass at times with all the verifications.

Why can't you access the email anymore?

A few have said it, but both more or less equal out. If you are in to multiplayer, definitely go with what your buddies have. If you are the loner type, as myself, go by the titles released. It always seemed I was way more interested in PS titles, plus I've had every generation of PS since the PS1 came out in junior high, so that just became my console over the years. However, I'm more of a PC gamer, and would recommend that route over both consoles.

I got my son a Steam Machine.

What exactly should they do? If you just have your name and email and no other way to identify that you in fact are the owner of the account, then you're simply SOL. Plus as others said, you'd be irate if someone else called up with just the name and email and were able to change the password.
