My ps3 just died! Is there anyway to transfer the data? I had movies and map packs on that damn thing. I think I have the red light of death...this sucks. I was just watching Who Framed Roger Rabbit that I just got for me bday...Happy Birthday to me! gah!

Nope ur data is lost. I learned the hard way too. Invest in the extended warranty & a flash drive next time. FYI anything u downloaded from psn u will be able to redownload free when u sign in on ur new system. If u plan on downloading anything else on ur new 1 u will have to call Sony to have them deactivate ur old system for u since u can't do it then U can activate the new 1.

Gotcha...so I can redownload all my crap, glad to hear. But before that I have to call sony and have them deactivate my old system and activate the new one?

I can't even eject my dvd...looks like i'm gonna have to pop this baby open, eh?

Is there anyway to repair this? I mean, what can you do with a busted PS3? Has this happened to you before govols? Thanks for all the help.

there is something you can try and it worked for me.strip down your ps3 to just the motherboard and put it in the oven and bake it for 10 minutes at 450.i know it sounds crazy but it really works.i got the ylod and found this on utube and thought wtf ill try it what do i have to lose.its been going strong for about 2 months now.

I've heard about baking the motherboard but that would only be a temporary fix if it worked at all. Never hurts to try assuming ur ps3 is out of warranty of course. Might work long enough to do a data transfer. My ps3 died about 2 months ago & I was able to redownload all my old stuff when I signed in to psn without deactivating my old ps3 which until last week I never knew anything about it. I ordered & dl 'd a movie then when I went to watch it I got a message that said I had to deactivate my old ps3 1st which was impossible. There is a customer service number to call & they will go in & deactivate it for u. They will send u an email when they do, took about 2 days, then all u have to do is click activate on ur new system.

true u never know how long it will last but like i said knock on wood mine has been going about 2 months now and i have put alot of hours on it since that time so its worth a shot if you dont have a warranty left.

I just watched a video where some dude stripped his ps3 to the motherboard and used a heat gun and used more compound on the cpu and gpu...the dude said it's his second time...the first time lasted 2 months. If it's gonna last only for 2 months, I'd rather just buy a new system...
