I am thinking of buying one of them but i don't know which one to get. I am used to the playstation paddles. I know Xbox has Halo which is a plus for that. But I also want to use it as a computer in my bedroom. So which ever one is better at online. Just give me your reasons why you like one of them.

So you're wanting to use your gaming system to broswe the web...? If so the ps3 is only one with a browser, but it's pretty clunky as far as you would expect trying to browse with a controller and on your tv.

yeah, neither one is a good choice for using in any way as a computer. But if you are asking which one is better online, then 360 all the way. Xbox Live does a curb stomp on the PS network

are we really going to have this thread again with the same comments by the same people? how about we just take replies from the people that have both? i have both and the xbox is for games, especially if you want to play online. ps3 is awesome as a movie player but games online suck big time

i have had both myself. xbox live is superior to psn for sure, but you also have to pay for xbox live albeit it's not much. to say that the ps online "sucks bigtime" is laughable. ps online is fine if you are a casual gamer and don't spend 50+ hours a week gaming. you put that with the internet browser and the ability to play blu ray and reg dvds plus the failure rate of the 360 makes ps3 a superior value imo.

bottom line, hardcore online gamer that does not get easily frustrated with having to deal with the possibility getting rrod get 360, casual to moderate gamer get ps3.

the xbox's ability to stream Netflix is what convinced the wife we needed a console. Bluray? Eh, I can live with my current player

If you get the 360, buy it from Gamestop and get the extended warranty. I have recently came upon 2 360's that were thrown out by friends because they had the RROD and were out of warranty. I know a guy in Chattanooga who will fix these.....$30 bucks and have a new system.

My PS3 is a dust collector, i only use it for playing dvds. The online play is miserable in comparison to the 360. Also, the RROD is nothing to worry about, it's an easy fix, it's BS that it happens but it takes 3 hours max to fix it.

I have both, I cant figure out what peoples problem is with PSN, if I was going to have only one of them, it would be the PS3. Im actually thinking of selling my 360. I have the 2 boxes sitting right next to each other, and the online element of games works exactly the same on both. Perhaps other people have not had that same experience? I dunno.

the more recent 360's are way more reliable IMO. i have an '07 model that i got about 2 years ago and haven't had one single issue with it. it was most of the earlier 360's that had the neverending problems

If you want to use it as a PC, just get a PC and game with it.

Oh, and Blu-Ray players are getting cheap enough now that the PS3 argument is starting to slip.

The PS3 is still a good deal if it's what you need. You get a gaming system and the BluRay player for $299. That's very competitive with a 360/BD player option, if not better at retail prices. Plus, it's got built in wifi which many find useful.

However, all of that doesn't mean jack if you aren't going to use it. I've watched 4 BluRay discs over the last 2 years. 3 of them are concert films I have. Just not something I use.

Strictly gaming wise, the 360 has more options and a better setup. PS3 has a good variety as well but not as much.

I'd recommend a 360 for ease of use. Plus, last.fm is coming soon for gold members. And Netflix is already here. Etc. Good addons for the system if they are something you'll use.

In short, good reasons to go either way. Only way I'd definately say 360 is if the person was just looking to game.

If you have a bunch of friends that play video games, find out what they have and go with that. You don't want to be the guy stuck with the opposite system than what all of your friends have. JMO.

I have an Xbox 360.

I'm not really all that interested in a PS3 at the moment, there just really isn't anything in its library that makes me want to pick one up. I'll likely pick one up eventually but that will be later.

The Wii is garbage.
