Pruitt's post game message for TN fans

I imagine the staff knows Bailey is the future, but is not close to being ready this year, and playing him this early would led to shell shock. Regardless our problems far exceed JG
If they believed that then HB would have started. They started Maurer last year against UGA who had a better D than Bama does this year.

The problems do go beyond JG. But I believe we've reached a point where his limitations are inhibiting the improvement of the O as a whole and individual players.

The gap is nowhere near close. He watched another game. We are weaker and can’t tackle. Our line is overrated. RB’s can’t break tackles. He is sugarcoating this 💩 show.
Brings up a great point. If you go back and look at how many on D were tackling at SHOULDER level. Bama runners just bounced off of them. I was like WTH?

Top 15 won't cut it
Correct.
We have few, if any, players that are top 10 at their position in the SEC.
Until we buy better players, the gap will remain huge and wins will be few.
To the knee jerk "Farh da Coach" crowd I submit that Nick Saban could not coach this roster to a .500 SEC record consistently.
Only in a fairy tale can Rumpelstiltskin spin straw into gold.

You’re funny

So, nobody is more disappointed than the people in the program? How about the long time fans? Coaches come and go, players come and go...but we're the ones who will always be here. Pretty sure we're more disappointed because we've been dealing with it for a long time now.

As someone else said, the platitudes get old after a while. I'll believe "we're getting there" when I see some tangible results. I didn't even watch the game today really. Instead just took a nap.

There are reports that Pruitt is miserable here and just wants to go somewhere and be a coordinator again.

I wouldn't doubt it but he is not gonna step away from the money and I wouldnt either if I were in his shoes. 7 figure salaries can sooth a lot of hurt.

Yep. And despite great recruiting, we are not looking any better in Pruitt's year 3. I have become numb to the emotion I used to have for our games. I enjoy watching Kiffin and Ole Miss more than Tennessee.

I'll give Kiffin some credit, you can tell he really felt that loss yesterday in the post game presser.

Pruitt, not so much. He knew his role yesterday and it was to act as a scrimmage for Saban.

Honestly we’ll know more next week about pruitt. Kentucky game was a big fat disappointment but Georgia, Bama those were going to be losses regardless. If he trots out JG versus Arkansas, he’ll probably lose the rest of the fans and the team as well.

As much as I hate to hear the whole BS of “we’ll get them next year” I’ll be closer to believing it if we see a QB being developed better than JG. I think this is essential for morale in the team and the fans and most importantly recruiting.
With a good QB, we would have been able to compete with them yesterday. Bama's defense is the weakest of the Saban era

The problem with our ‘talent’ is that it is coached poorly. Players tackle too high because coaches don’t drill proper tackling into them in practice. Our o line false starts and false snaps because coaches don’t prepare them for what’s going to happen in a game. We don’t complete many passes over the middle because we don’t practice going over the middle. Chaney has loved sideline throws at least for the last 4 years. We kick opposing teams and chop block because there is no accountability for actions. Also, see JG being the eternal starter as an example of this. I feel like Pruitt’s approach is to tell players, ‘we have to do better’ over and over without actually teaching them the proper technique nor holding them accountable to that technique.

Look at bama players and they do all the little things right. Run the correct routes, tackle the correct way, line up correctly, etc. They are well coached. Saban would easily have our talent level consistently above .500 because he would have a disciplined team that was properly coached.

He’s finished. It’s just a matter of time. We know it, he knows it and Fulmer knows it.
I'm afraid the problem is that Fulmer doesn't know it. Fulmer was fired for mediocrity and I think we can see with his decision to give Pruitt a raise/extension that it is perfectly acceptable to him. It seems that Pruitt and Fulmers goal is to hope to get lucky and win one of these games every once in a while...not to do to them, what they've been doing to us.

I’m glad he’s excited about being here and that he’s glad he took the job. Sounds like an introductory statement.

Some of yawl don't understand the process of a rebuild. When CJP got here he was lacking a lot of pieces. He has brought in a few but still needs a few more. He's still lacking a qb, an elite in the box Rb, TE, edge rushers, and a good OL and DL coach. When he was given 5 yrs that was a commitment to how much it would tk to get where we need to be. Though patience is hard at times its a fact. Playing catch up is rough. Some need to look at Ky and their commitment to one coach and a long haul rebuild. We can't even redshirt guys as needed and are having to play the freshmen yrly. Assess what's going on before becoming sensational about losing to a yr in and yr out championship contender.

I'll believe ya Jerry if ya beat Florida. If not ya need to clean house or hit the road.

Whatever you need to tell yourself. We got blown out versus a bad Kentucky team.
I don't need to tell myself anything. We're a good QB away from being a completely different team. Obviously you're not informed enough about the game to recognize the fact that a good QB makes everyone better. We have really good players everywhere but QB

Everyone is overlooking the obvious. Fulmer is pulling the strings. He has always been arrogant and a control freak. Do you think he hired a position coach without the understanding Fulmer was in control? Jeremy Pruitt is a competitor but his hands are tied. He did like everyone else on this board would do and is keeping his mouth shut and collecting his millions. Do you honestly think Fulmer gave Pruitt an extension for Pruitt? If so you have no idea how things are ran at UT. That extension was for the single purpose of keeping Fulmer in the mist of things
