Pruitt's lawyer says he has the info to burn the whole AD down

This comes down to math. The University clearly thinks it will cost less to defend in court than settle. The fact that Pruitt's lawyer tried to publicly blackmail UT into a settlement makes me think they don't see the lawsuit as the winning play. If Pruitt did what he was accused of his termination for cause will be upheld. The rest will be scorched Earth to hurt Tennessee as much as possible in the eyes of the NCAA and public.

And this is why you pay the buyout (or negotiate down) and pay the man. We have paid players for years, across multiple sports. If Pruitt really wants to spill the beans, and has others willing to talk or has receipts, it will be like dropping a nuclear bomb on the athletic program.

You think Kiffin set us back 10 years? This will set us back 30 years in multiple sports.

Lawyers gonna lawyer. Sounds like a bluff. This is pretty amusing: "request to preserve documents from prominent current and former UT administrators, coaches and athletes so that he can inspect them". So no suit has been filed and he has no current standing for discovery, but he wants to let everybody know that he has requested the preservation of documents so he can inspect them.

I bet UT has a stack of signed MOUs they would be happy to hand over to him ;)

Let’s see. Pruitt’s lawyer gave no hint that Pruitt’s firing for cause could be denied. But, if UT doesn’t ante up some hush money, he will burn UT to the ground (metaphorically speaking). Cat fight!!!
Only the lawyers win here.

Strategic timing in all this?

Probably getting ready to lose his job with the Giants and will be too toxic to get back into the college game til this blows over.

Giants are 1-5 and Judge is probably getting fired himself or offering up some sacrificial lambs to buy himself some time.

Kindly shut the hell up... People aaid exactly the same kind of asinine nonsense about Penn St when the Sandusky stuff happened... They're fine, people need to break their habits of believing every thing is the worst possible scenario and the only outcome will be the most damaging imaginable...
