I’m telling ya. They aren’t going to pay the money this year.Do you not realize if the bottom truly falls out this season (2-10) he won’t be here next year. I just don’t see it. If he is here next year after a 7-17 overall record it’s not gonna look good on recruiting...anything less than 4 wins he’s out plain and simple. Fulmer won’t have a choice
I love UT football, I hate the people that have ran it into the ground.
Sure. I am sure you put Fulmer in that group huh? So an AD hires a guy he thought would work out. If the coach doesnt work out, you just fire the AD as well? Yeah hiring and firing is the TN way. Might as well keep on doing it hoping to strike gold. Give people an actual chance to build some things? Nah. Not here at TN.
I know you're being sarcastic , and 10 years is generous. However, I do think firing coaches every time we look bad (admittedly it was historically bad) is unsustainable but it will take time to see results. Talk all you want about 21 months, 2 recruiting classes blah blah. Try talking about he has more SEC West wins than CBJ. CHI layer an egg and almost loss to Sothern Miss. Dooley fielded a defense for an entire season that would have made Saturdays vols look like the 85 bears. Kiffin was Kiffin and left a hard cupboard.
Can Pruitt at least get the whole season? I know it's not year one, but a loss doesn't define you. CBJ beat Kirby and Saban lost to UAB. Both of them inherited better programs than 2017 Vols.
CJP may not be the man, but he deserves at least 4 years to stabalize. Dabo didn't win it all in year 2.
Hate to tell you guys. Well not really, Pruitts not going anywhere for a few years. One game at the start of the season is not going to get him fired. I understand it’s one of the worst losses in TN history, but it’s year two game one. He won vs ranked teams last year, to include: KY and Auburn.
Flame away, but it’s just going to take time, like it or not. We complained about Kiffen, Dooley, Jones, now Pruitt. So, apparently every coach we ever had screwed the person coming after them with bad players, no talent and no drive and left the program to die.
No, not me. Just not lose to a GA State team that Tennessee should beat EVERY.SINGLE.TIME based on talent alone.Gotcha. So we fire a coach that stunk, didn’t care, was a jerk, didn’t develop any players, or whatever numerous things he did or didn’t do. Then Pruitt comes in with hardly anytime to recruit anyone and play nearly the same players (minus the few that went up), and expect to turn the pile of trash into a Bama team. We’ve been trash for sometime. It’s not like he’s getting handed a winning team like Georgia. We haven’t had a solid season in a decade (or more). It ain’t going to be fixed in 1 year.

Why does this make any sense. Pruitt is not going anywhere. You know Bama fans wanted Saban fired after a couple years. Pruitt had alot to clean up. JG is not a SEC type quarterback. (He is a Butch Jones guy). I am glad you fans don't hire and fire football coaches.Stands at five (5) million as of now.
UT Vols football: Two formulas for buyout in Pruitt's deal
Butch Jones' buyout was a little over eight (8) million.
Breaking down Butch Jones' contract buyout
Derek Dooley's buyout was five (5) million with total coaching buyouts totalling over nine (9) Million
Tennessee makes final buyout payment to Derek Dooley
Phillip Fulmer's buyout was six (6) million.
Fulmer to step aside as Tennessee coach
Boys, all we are is a get rich scheme for coaches. And, I doubt we are going to be firing Pruitt until the end of (next) football season.
What coach would take the job? No proven coach would. Give him a chance to build his team. He's had a full season and an off-season under his belt. He has failed to prepare his team. He has failed to develop his team. He has failed to condition his team. Most importantly, he has failed to lead his team.
An incoming coach gets leeway in year one. A coach whose team is trucked by Georgia State in year two of his run doesn't deserve such consideration.
I'm not sure I'm following you here, I'm sure your referring to clawson it wasn't totally his call there the AD pretty much tells coaches who they can and can't hire also clawson is a pretty good coach it just wasn't the best time in coachs career to be changing offenses. I feel we had a great staff when I was there and coach was always great. Coach Fulmer is a great coach and an even better man, he bleeds orange and white and would never do anything to hurt UT.Fulmer has a proven track record of not being able to hire quality coaches. Pruitt would be his biggest failure.
Bama never sucked you know. They always had plenty of talent. We suck and have very little and it seems the best players we have get injured. Bama has 3 best players for every position. One goes down, the other steps up. When our best go down, a true Freshman 3 star has to step up, and then he gets hurt and never develops to his potential. Vicious cycle we seem to be stuck in.But..... But...... But...... speaking of Bama, Saban did it!
Garbage??? Bama has always had talent. They never really sucked like we have for 11 years.Lol (I get the sarcasm). Some people are really stuck on the idea. Saban was handed garbage and did turn that around quickly. Is everyone Saban? Hell naw. Credit to him, amazing what he did. I’m not as impressed with Smart he was handed talent. On that note so was Mullet, ahem, Mullen.
