Pruitt's buyout

No, I wouldn’t expect any coach to come into what Pruitt inherited and be Bama in year two. I do expect him to be competitive with Vandy an I damn well expect them to beat the crap out of a Sunbelt team.

Want something else to chew on, so far in CJPs tenure he’s trailing both Dooley and Butch in performance.
It weighs in. But it’s going to have to play out some and see what happens before real things start happening. To your point, Dooley beat Georgia State (50 something to 13 (ish).

Can't keep firing coaches... it's absurd. Give him 10 years to rebuild it, I say. Screw it.

This implies he can take the team to not just another level but three levels where they currently are. He needs to bench the hold overs and put his guys in. The game results may not be any better but it will show as early as next season if he has the NADS to be a SEC head coach. We can not get a good read on him because of the players he has put on the field the past two seasons. And what does he have to lose? If his recruits make a difference in just heart to play that's a step forward. I mean hell we just lost to GA State the team can not go down any further. This is bottom the question is what is he willing to do to start the climb back up?

Stands at five (5) million as of now.

UT Vols football: Two formulas for buyout in Pruitt's deal

Butch Jones' buyout was a little over eight (8) million.

Breaking down Butch Jones' contract buyout

Derek Dooley's buyout was five (5) million with total coaching buyouts totalling over nine (9) Million

Tennessee makes final buyout payment to Derek Dooley

Phillip Fulmer's buyout was six (6) million.

Fulmer to step aside as Tennessee coach

Boys, all we are is a get rich scheme for coaches. And, I doubt we are going to be firing Pruitt until the end of (next) football season.
I wonder when Jeremy Pruitt steps aside or is fired will Phil Fulmer go back into retirement or be fired?

Hate to tell you guys. Well not really, Pruitts not going anywhere for a few years. One game at the start of the season is not going to get him fired. I understand it’s one of the worst losses in TN history, but it’s year two game one. He won vs ranked teams last year, to include: KY and Auburn.
Flame away, but it’s just going to take time, like it or not. We complained about Kiffen, Dooley, Jones, now Pruitt. So, apparently every coach we ever had screwed the person coming after them with bad players, no talent and no drive and left the program to die.
Do you not realize if the bottom truly falls out this season (2-10) he won’t be here next year. I just don’t see it. If he is here next year after a 7-17 overall record it’s not gonna look good on recruiting...anything less than 4 wins he’s out plain and simple. Fulmer won’t have a choice

The worst part isn't not only did we lose, but it was our 3rd game in a row we looked like an uninspired bunch. I have zero hope of a bowl game. I don't know what happened after Kentucky last year, but the team is poisoned. Have they quit because Pruitt keeps saying we need better players?

You're right. I meant to say 2 recruiting cycles. Sorry about that. He's been on the job 21 months.

You didn't say starters in the post i replied to. It was players.

But, But, you forgot to factor in the Year 0, since Fulmer all coaches have received the Honorary Year 0 clause....exception Kiffin because he was here for Year 0 and left.

LOL

4 wins should send him out the door.

Doesn’t matter, you will see improvement with a good coach. So far we have seen none.

Also, let’s add 3 of the last 5 years we had none drafted. Every situation is completely different. Coaching sure did suck last Saturday, but upsets happen. UT finally got it after flirting with it last year.

We saw improvement by beating a West team after many years of not winning and it happened on the road against Auburn and upsetting KY was another one. Even if Mike Leach came here I’m not sure it would be much better. He won under 5 games his first 3 years at Washington. There has to be some stability. Constantly hiring and firing isn’t working.

He should have never been hired.

I don’t disagree with that. But giving a first-time HC that kind of buyout just add insult to injury.

Sexton probably puts a down payment on a bigger yacht anytime he sees us coming.

I know you're being sarcastic , and 10 years is generous. However, I do think firing coaches every time we look bad (admittedly it was historically bad) is unsustainable but it will take time to see results. Talk all you want about 21 months, 2 recruiting classes blah blah. Try talking about he has more SEC West wins than CBJ. CBJ laid an egg and almost loss to Southern Miss. Dooley fielded a defense for an entire season that would have made Saturdays vols look like the 85 bears. Kiffin was Kiffin and left a bare cupboard.

Can Pruitt at least get the whole season? I know it's not year one, but a loss doesn't define you. CBJ beat Kirby and Saban lost to UAB. Both of them inherited better programs than 2017 Vols.
CJP may not be the man, but he deserves at least 4 years to stabalize. Dabo didn't win it all in year 2.

This is Fulmer's guy, he's not going anywhere, at least not this year. Maybe about halfway through next year could be a possibility if the shat show continues.

The team is not showing improvement, they look as lost and uninspired as they did game one last season.
