Pruitt will have to earn my Trust

Honestly we came out of this thing pretty good. Naturally, Pruitt will have to prove himself to us. Judging from his previous experiences, I feel he’s up to the task.

Just remember, yes he’s a bammer, he chose to be a volunteer.

Not trying to ruin the excitement of the fans who support Pruitt.

Pruitt will have to prove to me he can handle the expectations and responsibilities that come with the job because it’s not easy.

I’ll be happy to eat crow if Pruitt turns out to be a Grand Slam but I don’t have a reason to feel that way right now until he starts winning.

I've called Phil about this and he did say that he expressed your concerns to Mr Pruitt before even offering the position

It should have NEVER came to this point where we had to dig at the bottom of the barrel for assistants.

Obviously the decision by Fulmer has already been made and nothing can be done about it.

You serious? Look at UGA. Was Smart a successful, well known head coach? No. He was a DC at Bama. Worked out pretty good for UGA, and from the resume it would appear that CJP > CKS.

Fact is that EVERY HC out there today started at the bottom, and worked their way up. CJP is a great mind when it comes to defense, he is an excellent recruiter, and should be given the chance to prove himself as HC.

Fact is, thanks to the incompetence of Currie, we were rejected by almost every coach who was half decent. Yeah, Leech is good on offense, but defense wins championships. Fulmer knows this. Fulmer also loves Tennessee, and wants to see the football program back on top. He wouldn't have hired CJP if he didn't believe that he was the right person to get the program back to a competitive level.

So for anyone who wants to prejudge, and write CJP off as a bad hire before he even coaches his first season at UT, grow up and consider the fact that Fulmer has lived and breathed football his entire life, and is probably a much better judge of coaching ability than any other person on this forum.

In defense of the OP, why are all of you here posting in his thread if no one cares? Obviously, your presence here means you do.

Here's Pruitt's list of things to do immediately:

1. Team Meeting
2. Recruit
3. Earn VolFreakJosh's trust

This is all I’m going to say regardless if some of ya’ll agree or disagree.

IMO, I think our program could have done much better. Our Administration really screwed the pooch.

It should have NEVER came to this point where we had to dig at the bottom of the barrel for assistants.

Obviously the decision by Fulmer has already been made and nothing can be done about it.

However, I don’t support the hire nor feel confident that this will work out long term. I’m begging Pruitt to prove me wrong this upcoming season. I truly am! But if the last previous hires didn’t teach you anything, well....

We gave a Dooley a chance.

We gave Butch a chance.

How many times are we going to have to go through this repeatedly process until finally a HC works out?

Like I said, I’ll still be supporting UT to win and won’t be going anywhere.

Pruitt will have to prove to me he can handle the expectations and responsibilities that come with the job because it’s not easy.

I’ll be happy to eat crow if Pruitt turns out to be a Grand Slam but I don’t have a reason to feel that way right now until he starts winning.

So you are not on the bandwagon but just in case He does well you will then pretend to be a great fan. So funny.

Well good for you...who gives an ish??

After everything we’ve just been through...from all the crap with Jones to a 4-8 season to Currie and the worst coaching search in college football history that made us a national laughingstock.....and you’re gonna have to be “won over” by a multi winning national recruiter of the year who’s been a part of national title winning staffs at 2 different programs, who’s considered one of the great assistant coaches/DCs in the country and a rockstar in the making in coaching circles.....but he has to “earn your trust” before you’ll accept him here.....

Well isn’t that just freaking rich?????

Thankfully, according to another thread with a poll asking if fans on this site approve of Pruitt, nearly 80% say “yes” or “hell yes”, proving that a majority of our fans aren’t completely clueless. But of course, I recall that you were a 100% Butch Jones guy who shouted anyone down who dared offer any criticism of Lyle until about mid season of his 5th season.

Now that I think of it, this actually makes me feel better about the Pruitt hire.

I think he’s more worried about earning the trust of current players and recruits first. Not worried about you.
