Pruitt was awesome in the press conference

I hope he is successful. But I will be surprised if he is here in three years. If he was any good he will would still be at bama. I just don't see it.

Everybody said how wonderful Butch was when he was hired. Look how that turned out.

The gumps are laughing at us.

I just want to have a dominant offensive line and running game again. Goodness, John Kelly would have a field day behind a line like Bama's.

I know it's a long shot, but I keep dreaming of a line with Trey Smith and Cade Mays on it, and Ty Chandler having a 1,200 yard season behind them.

I have always believed and always will, that if you win the battle in the trenches , no matter what system you run , you probably gonna win.
He sounds like we think alike! Time will tell but I like it so far

One of my favorites for earlier was when he talked about his goals. He said " I get it we are all excited. But one of my goals is for 5 years from now when I stand at this podium, you all will be just as excited."

That spoke volumes to me.

So Bama is going to hire Pruitt over Dabo? Dont think so. Bama has been laughing at us since 2009.

"Good" or not makes no difference. He will not be given the time necessary to build the program from its current state. About one year from now the Fire Pruitt chants will begin when we continue to lack the talent to compete for the East.

I bet when they cut your umbilical cord, you complained about having to breath on your own.

He gave me the impression that he will be a hard worker and will expect the same of those around him.

He is plain spoken, and says what he means. While people like that can come off as brusque, you always know they are telling you the truth as they see it. If you are willing to accept their input as an opportunity, you will always improve.

He strikes me as a winner.

He definitely didn't seem too concerned about early signing day. That said, he also said he was going to take his time hiring staff and it sounds like he's almost has the staff filled. If the names being reported all end up here, he's put together a top-tier staff in a very short period of time.

yea early signing period means nothing..... which is why Alabama is soo concerned about it......

Dabo is building his own dynasty in South Carolina. Bama will never get him back.

Kirby is building his in Athens. Bama won't ever get him back.

Pruitt has the chance to do the same here. If he succeeds, he makes his mark and plants his flag in Knoxville.

I don't think it was about not being happy. I think he was just proud of his son and very emotional about it. His dad reminds me a lot of my dad. He's probably a hard a** most of the time, but he does have a soft spot.

I like what I heard in his press conference.

Thrilled not having to hear constant cliches.

It was nice to hear "We expect to win EVERY GAME" instead of "one game at a time, compete in every game" ect ect

Look, he may suck balls. Could be worse then Butch on steroids. But two observations A: Look at his staff and realize you don’t pull these kind of assistants unless guys believe in you and think you’ll succeed B: If you’re referring he’ll leave to take the Bama job, no way. It’s Dabo’s if he wants it and I think that was a selling point to Pruitt. He figured why wait and take that chance

Loved the intensity and him basically calling everyone out to step up and do their job. Exactly what this university needs right now. Let's start getting those recruits.

Of course the chants will be out, even after that first loss. It was like that at LSU for Saban his first year and at Bama. It was like that for Smart last year. How good of a coach he is will be determined if he can right the ship enough his second and third years to quiet those people down.

1. Dude knows how to work. Not a talker, he's a doer.

2. Probably won't have a huge early signing day, and that's fine. "Focus on the ones we get, not on the ones we don't."

3. WE ARE FINALLY GOING TO RUN THE FREAKING BALL! No more of this stupid Zone Read crap. Gonna build some lines, dominate our opponent, and run the ball down their freaking throat.

4. If the reports about hiring Helton are true, then we're going to have a great passing game too. Helton can take a lot of credit for Darnold at USC. Big explosive plays, I like it.

5. I like what he said about being adaptable. That stuff happens, but people expect wins.

6. I don't think the guy cares about anything but winning. He didn't grow up a Vol fan, and we're gonna have to teach him our ways, but....the guy wants to win. And you gotta KNOW he is looking forward to that Alabama game next year.

I definitely was hoping we would go with a proven head coach. BUT....this guy is out to prove himself, and if we had to get a winner, this guy knows what it takes to win.

I'm onboard. Welcome Coach Pruitt, and GBO!

World's biggest smokescreen per babyvol. Gruden announced tomorrow

I like what I heard in his press conference.

After his ability to hire an elite staff in a short period of time, I feel a bit better about this hire.

He’s slowly winning me over but I’m still being cautious.

It's actually surprising how much some Bamers hate TN, when TN is amongst the power houses, it's better for everyone in the SEC. When Bama was a joke from Stalling to Saban, I actually routed for them to get a good coach. Unfortunately we ended up them getting the best CFB coach in the last 60 years, arguably.

After reading this thread I just wish I had a load of typewriters, Polaroid cameras and carburetors I could sell this group!
