Translated:

We have no idea what kind of head coach Pruitt will be.

That's right. We don't. However we do know with Leach. High scoring offense. Defense is optional. Somebody who is never going to complete with Kirby or Mullen. We would be a consistent 8-4 team playing in the taxslayer bowl. Are you good with that? The

Washington State is currently #15 in the country in total defense just below LSU and Auburn. :pilot:

Sorry, Page Not Found | NCAA.com

Also, he has averaged about 8 wins per year at Texas Tech and Washington State. Imagine what he could do at a place where he has the resources to compete on an even playing field.

San Antonio for last 19 years. Lived in Dallas for 10 years

I have been bouncing around DFW for 20 years now, almost 12 in this house.

Can you believe I have never made it down to San Antonio?

yeah, he's looking for the coach that will give him the most control

Who ever the coach is, he will have to be a yes man to fulmer. Phil wants control over the new hire. And maybe that's why its taking so long to find a good hire.

It's a neat place for a weekend trip. 4.5-5 hour drive with the Austin traffic

Systems won't work in the SEC? If you can get the talent for said system, it can work in the SEC. Spurrier was scorned before success and everyone laughed at Urban Meyer before he started. Leach's system would work and he'd be successful here.
Now, if you want championships, then defense is the key as always. Alabama has proven this over and over and Tennessee's last NC was mostly because of an outstanding defense.

Hal Mumme had a pretty good system at UK. Outside of one 7-6 season he didn’t do much.

I like Leach and would have been pleased with his hiring, but I don’t get why people think he would become a consistent 10 win coach. He has only done it once in his career. His history has him winning some games he shouldn’t only to lose 2 he shouldn’t in the same season.

Remember his best season in his whole career ended in getting run off the field by Houston Nutt in the Cotton Bowl.

You have to consider what he's had to work with. He turned two nothing programs into something. Texas Tech finished second to last in the Big 12 his year. Fallen hard sinc he left.

I think with Leach we are looking at a bunch of 8-5 and 9-4 seasons. Even Butch did that twice. Leach > Schiano, but if the Vols can get a slam dunk defensive coach (not Schiano) that will bring in a good OC, that's the direction they need to go.

You want to see where Tennessee is at QB, where we are on offense?

Coaching up players who were recruited by nobody.

I voted Pruitt because he is a much better recruiter than Leach, knows the Southeast, and I think could attract potentially better assistant coaches. IMO

I'm not convinced Leach's system would work in the SEC. It would be a hell of a lot of fun to watch, but you have to be able to run the ball and play great defense.

People don't know Leach I guess where he's west coast but he was at a 60/40 ratio so he does run quite a but just passing more

Trevor Daniel has the best composite in the conference of the 4 punting categories combined. Clean sweep of 2nd in each category with none of the 1st places sweeping them.
