Leach is almost 60 years old and no major program has ever hired him as a HC. Why didnt Arkansas hire him? Im starting to see a pattern here.

He has been HC at 2 power 5 schools. are you saying his head coaching experience is less than Pruitt's head coaching experience? got me confused on this one... :pilot:

His defense is top 20. He does have defenses.

Ease up on using facts here. It confuses the parrots who only spout out what they heard here or twitter. Spending 3 minutes to research something easily found is way too difficult for some of the VN faithful.

The fact that his defense in Wash St is kicking a.. this year has been posted many times on this board int he past week and yet we still have folks who swear his teams have no defense. It of course is the same ones who think a running game MUST happen from under center and MUST be a hand off from the QB to the RB.

But that's okay. Leach ain't coming and hopefully whomever is chosen can win. I'll support the hire but will always wish it had been Leach.

Neither are good culture fits for UT. I can't be the only one who thinks a Bama guy is a bad fit for Knoxville.

Pruitt might have more upside as he has more sway in the SEC recruiting-wise. Leach is not going to get it done here despite his prolific offenses. Go read some of his comments about recruiting to WSU - saying they'll never compete against teams like UW & USC talent-wise because of recruiting disadvantages - well those same disadvantages exist at Tennessee with UGA, UF, & Bama getting superior talent. Personally would prefer Kwiatkowsky or Venables if we're looking at DCs, I think they have more upside as coaches.

also, Leach was 39 when he was hired at Texas Tech, a power 5 school. Pruitt is 43, and hasnt been a head coach yet.
I dont really care one way or the other, just trying to figure out your dig on Leach

PS Leach is 56, which I guess is "almost 60", but then Saban at 66 is "almost 70" too

Give me a break. Texas Tech and Washington State. Those are not big time programs. If he was such a good coach, a legit football program would have given him a shot by now. Pruitt is 43 years old, most coaches get their first HC job around their early/mid forties. Pruitt is right on track.

I don't get the "he wouldn't fit in here" when he was beloved in a small Texas city. He'd go drink and shoot the bull with locals. Now he is loved in a small Washington town.

Not that that even matters. He would win 10 games a year with the resources available here and have a ceiling to go higher. His protegee is in Oklahoma right now coaching for the national championship.

There's not much point in rehashing it. Leach is known for standing up to his AD. That was never going to fly with Phil in the picture.

Chris Loew is reporting CPF is interviewing Pruitt for the second time today. Also someone involved with Pruitt said he knocked the first interview out of the park.

This poll proves how inept we are as a fanbase. And how we allowed Butch to wreck us for 4 years with little to no resistance.

Pruitt is a bammer. I hate bama. I hope he is not the one.

Leach is a winner who takes low-level programs and regularly beats major ones.

Systems won't work in the SEC? If you can get the talent for said system, it can work in the SEC. Spurrier was scorned before success and everyone laughed at Urban Meyer before he started. Leach's system would work and he'd be successful here.
Now, if you want championships, then defense is the key as always. Alabama has proven this over and over and Tennessee's last NC was mostly because of an outstanding defense.
