Pruitt Updates Maurer's Status for AL Game - game time decision

If he has not cleared the protocol by tomorrow (maybe even today) then I would not play him and give him an extra week of rest. Clearing the protocol 2 days before game day seems a higher risk than potential reward.

Have doctors cleared him? If they haven't, I can't imagine he'd be allowed to practice. This is a far cry from what Pruitt said on Monday. Whose decision is it? Pruitt's or the team doctors?

The doctors have to have the final call.
That is what they get paid the big bucks for

If Pruitt went above their head after they said no, he walks out on a big limb.

If he plays I would bet the farm the doctor said ok.

Like I said earlier...Pruitt wants JG to start!!!
Really Pruitt is in a no win situation with whichever route he goes. Half want JG to play, the other half want Maurer to play. I personally think this concussion scenario gives him an easy out to let Maurer sit on the sidelines and stay healthy for the final stretch. I'm cool with that.

He's been sitting the bench most of the season. We have been wanting him to play. He has the opportunity to play finally and we are telling him to ride the pine. If he's hurt, I'm all for him sitting until he's healthy. But if he's good to go, let him lead the team.

I'm real sure who starts, IS always open for change by the HC. When Pruitt says it will be a game time decision, is this something new? It's like saying, we won't cross that bridge until we get to it, I don't care how fast you're going you are not going to cross it, until you get to it. To even make a comment about Maurer's planned start, tells me there is still a question-I do not believe it is "gamesmanship", as we are talking about a young man's future. Scouts may start to think he gets injured in every game he starts, and doesn't recover very quickly....just saying.

I don’t believe there’s any more chance of Maurer being hurt versus Bama than there was versus Florida or Georgia. That said Maurer probably gives us the best chance in our remaining games

I generally agree, although I believe BAMA is bigger and faster than FL; however, I wasn't responding to his likelihood of being hurt during the game, but still being hurt- prior to, thus making it a game day decision to play or not to play.
