Pruitt "Struggling" Says Griffith

First of all regarding Penix. Wouldn't you appreciate a coach telling you that he thinks you would be better off at another school? I know if he was my kid I would.

Second of all, that headline is BS! Griffith oughta be ashamed, or his editor, or whomever made that decision. I thought Pruitt did great today. They lost the QB to Nebraska, but picked up a nice prospect from Cal. Those things are going to happen with a new coach.

Third, my understanding with Mays is he was leaving K-town regardless. It was GA or Clemson. Sometimes being too close works against you. Many kids want to get a little ways from home. That's understandable.

Fourth, let's wait and see what happens between now and February.

Fifth, how many 4 and 5 star players have we seen get outplayed by 3-star guys? The success of these coaches will be determined by how they develop the talent- nothing else. Good coaches will make nearly all of their first and second team players play to a 4 and 5 star level.

Lastly, I don't know how the media works in Knoxville. They constantly write things when they aren't true. Then they follow it up with bulls#@t opinion pieces. Gimme a break!

Siap.

I actually debated not posting this, because, IMO, it borders on slanderous. The amount of hearsay and speculation presented in this article as fact, after everything Tennessee has been through in that regard, is at best irresponsible, and at worst, complete slander of Pruitt.

Tennessee football podcast: Phillip Fulmer credibility boosts struggling new coach Jeremy Pruitt

To write something like this two weeks in after 5 years of towing the company line with Butch is mind boggling to me.

If you agree, let Mike know.

Mike who?

The Struggle continues!!! :lolabove:

(4*) WR Alontae Taylor
(4*) OL Jerome Carvin
(4*) RB Jeremy Banks
(4*) DL Brant Lawless
(4*) DL Greg Emerson
(4*) TE Dominick Wood-Anderson

That’s a pretty bad struggle. I hope we struggle even worse with the two 5 Star recruits from Cali that now have us in their top 5.

What happened with Penix is that the HC told and reassured him that he still had an offer - then a few days later the OC tells the kid he doesn't have an offer.

That is not right. And you can't tell me that you as a parent would be happy if the HC told your kid he had an offer then a few days later the OC tells your kid to "get lost".

The key point is that Pruitt and his assistants were NOT on the same page. That is NOT good.

You would think he would find a team more to his liking. Or maybe he just likes being miserable.

No I am not. Just telling it like it is.

Why is it that folks bash other coaches for situations like what happened to Penix but now are "okay" that these coaches are doing that??

Pruitt should be at Tennessee right now finishing up hiring his staff and getting all of them on the same page.

Being 54th isn't on Pruitt

Not entirely. Now that the rating has moved up to bad, rather than mind boggling bad, I'm seeing dozens of posters go gaga over what could end up being the worst signing class TN has had since following recruiting became a thing.

Hopefully we see a huge jump before NSD.

Still play in the SEC. Still need top 5 year in year out classes.

Recruiting is one if the toughest businesses in the world. No holds barred. Players and coaches lie, cheat, did I say lie? They thrive on this fact.

Pruitt did the young man a favor. Move on.

New sheriff in town building a tougher mold. Sweet.

I've never bashed a coach for that. This is a multi million dollar business where one right player can make a difference in a national championship or disappointment. Also, there is no reason to bring a kid in and waste what little college time he has if you don't think he can do what you need him to for you.

This is the new strategy of fan service by UTAD. Create a mess a to get all the knee jerk folks thinking the sky is falling and then come in with something that nobody would've been happy with before the the mess was made but now looks like a home run.

But he’s not. We’re down to meaningless bellyaching. :boredom:

The Knoxville newspaper(s) do not deliver quality with their UT Football sports coverage.

The negative tone hurts the university, students and fan base.

Not really serving the community very well.

Time passed. JT gets all the fresh snaps next summer.

The OC is putting all his chips on JT, with the goal to beat Georgia and win the East.

Pruitt's future success here will be no better than Butch if Fulmer doesn't let him run the program like he wants to run it. Name a school who allowed their AD to go on a recruiting visit to a recruit's house? Fulmer is bullying Pruitt and it is evident that Pruitt is too scared to tell him to BTFO. Remember this post when in a few years when I said Fulmer needs to leave football to Pruitt.
Name a program that just went through what we did . That’s why you don’t see it all the time . Now name a program that went through what we did and has a head coach that’s coaching his team that we got him from in the playoffs for a national championship . I don’t know why you think it’s a bad thing when our AD wants his university to be the best it can be and is doing everything he can think of to make that happen . Right now , at this time at UT , ITS ALL HANDS ON DECK . I see at as phil doing his part I’d be even happier if Beverly was making calls a visiting kids and parents reassuring them that UT is on its way back and steady as a rock again.

We still have room for another 9 or 10 players. Currently, if you go by average player rating, we're 14th nationally on 247. Our class will be top 20, maybe top 15 overall. Considering Pruitt has had a mere matter of weeks to build relationships with these kids, I'd call this a win.

We will be one of the biggest movers in February. A top 20 class is looking likely. Which is good, all things considered.

He's been coaching a recruiting in the South for a long time. He might of only had a few weeks to flip them from else where but the relationships are already there or should be anyways.

Kiffin almost beat Alabama with walk ons.

Dooley focused on managing expectations down by saying 3 stars are what you need, but then did not develop them.

Pruitt knows how to teach people to do the right things.

There is nothing wrong with the kids we've signed that can't be fixed with directed work.

I see no reason to complain about who we have signed. And think with help in just a few more spots, Tennessee can win every game with them.

Contrary to Jerry Jones' long held belief that linebackers don't matter, proved wrong this year in Dallas, BTW, a five star linebacker would go a long way toward helping this team win.
