At least til next season.

Not because he takes down UGA, (although I think the D will look improved out there), but because he has some excuses for the season if it turns into a 3 or 4 win year. He was forced to replace his third year starting qb with a true freshman. Surely he can’t be expected to win a ton of games with a TF. Also, he kicked off a kid and had 3 transfer this week. Surely he can’t be expected to win a ton of games while trying to get the roster right. No matter what happens from here on out, Pruitt has bought himself another year, guaranteed. He’ll probably switch some coaches at the end of the year and that’ll be part of it too. We better hope next year’s recruits can be ready to go from day one and save the program.

I think you can be expected to win games with a true freshman nowadays. Hurts, Fromm, Tua, etc... The narrative has changed.

The real problem is the gap at recruiting from the top isn't just a gap. Its a damn Grand Canyon. Hard to overcome the other teams Jimmies and Joes when they are mostly 4 and 5 stars.

He was never at risk next year. As long as Fulmer is AD, I don't see him getting any less than 4 years and the opportunity to flip this roster. At that point, his clock starts ticking. And as for a group of true freshmen swooping in to "save the program"....good luck with that. Don't care how talented they are.

I think you give too much "sway" to Fulmer. If he left the job this weekend, his replacement would or could not replace Coach P any sooner than the time you speak of. If he did, he he should not have been given the job to began with. TIME is the first step needed to get where we want to be. If after time and good recruiting have been accomplished and the staff doesn't produce, then start the process all over again and hope this staff has not left the cupboard as bare as they are suffering with.

As much as the narrative is Pruitt may have started Maurer for optics or to give him more of a pass on the season, in reality, Pruitt and Chaney are going to start the QB who they think gives them the best chance to win...simple as that. Plan A hasn't worked, so, like Pruitt said in presser, time to see if someone else can give a better result...just like any other position.

Lol at thinking he is in trouble before year 5

IMO he gets 6-7 years most likely no matter what

We make a bowl or two, 10+ years unless he leaves

That is true for Georgia and Alabama, it is not true for Ga State, BYU, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Mississippi State, and UAB. There are only about 25 five stars per recruiting cycle nationwide

If he is great, he will more than likely return to Bama someday, and if he is terrible he won’t make it 5 years. I could see him getting 6-7 years if he is mediocre

Good coaches all over the country take less than stellar talent and still field competent football teams. You'll take alot of heat on vn for it, but it really is ok to admit that cjp is underachieving.

Not because he takes down UGA, (although I think the D will look improved out there and line up in the right position), but because he has some excuses for the season if it turns into a 3 or 4 win year. He was forced to replace his third year starting qb that regressed under his tenure with a true freshman that he recruited. Surely he can’t be expected to win a ton of games with a TF since he couldn't beat GSU with an experienced QB. Also, he kicked off a kid that he recruited and had 3 transfer this week since they were cancers from Butch that we will supposedly recruit over. Surely he can’t be expected to win a ton of games while trying to get the roster right since numerous other coaches in worse situations are showing more progress. No matter what happens from here on out, Pruitt has bought himself another year, guaranteed since ticket holders will be lined up to renew season tickets for a 1-11 team. He’ll probably switch some coaches at the end of the year and that’ll be part of it too since they will be like rats on the Titanic. We better hope next year’s recruits can be ready to go from day one and save the program since next year's roster will be 85%-90% Pruitt's guys.

I filled in the gaps in your post (in orange)

My point being that PF is a coach. He knows a rebuild like this takes time to clean out and flip the roster. Maybe a pencil neck AD wouldn't be so patient, but PF will certainly allow him the time to do that.

I love it when blanket comparisons are made. Do you work for the media?

Excuses. That is the Tennessee way. And he was hired by the master of excuses. So, we ought to be used to it by now. Rotating his assistants? Yeah, we are used to under performing HCs doing that too. That is our culture. Depending on Freshmen and Juco players and hoping for the best from them? Well, roll the dice instead of taking what you have and actually developing them. Keep saying it's great to be a Tennessee Vol, and singing Rocky Top Woo. Hopeful. Real Hopeful.
