Pruitt presser

You need two scores, the order of which doesn't really matter IMO. A field goal there is not guaranteed.. I don't have much of a problem with Pruitt's decision there and frankly it's way down the list of "things to be pissed at Pruitt about."

I tend to agree here. The chance of missing the field goal, coupled with the chance of missing the 2 point conversion makes that call to go for it ok in my book. You want to score the touchdown first so you know if you actually make the 2 point conversion. A field goal could have been useless in the end. His explanation of why he went for it was not great however

So you don’t have a problem with run, run, run, then the freshman’s first throw is going to be on 4th down? That makes no sense.

That’s the problem I think people are over reacting to. That was the game plan through the week assuming JG was the only qb going to play and therefore all that they practiced. From this point forward I think Cheney should install a package of 10 plays for each qb tailored to THEM and make the o line stay after practice to learn blocking assignments for each play. Do that every day for a week, and suddenly you don’t miss a beat when #2 comes in.

He should’ve said in hindsight I’d go for it again. You play offense to score TDs and not kick field goals so that’s what we were trying to do. If you’re going to be aggressive then be aggressive.
So just do away with field goals I guess. Lol

You seem to have missed the main point of that post. To answer your question though, no. They missed the chance in the first half to make the passing game an effective part of their strategy, so at that point, no I didn't care what down they threw on. The fact that he's a freshman should have nothing to do with it, assuming the staff made the slightest effort to get the younger guys more practice and game reps.

The simple fact is, "the freshman" is a QB in the SEC and it's his job to throw the ball. I'm guessing he knows that, but it doesn't seem the staff does.

They’ve barely let him play is the issue and throw in an actual game environment especially on fourth down. If he hasn’t had a chance to throw, he chances are probably lower, especially when they know he’s going to throw it.

JG was hurt and Maurer was unprepared and looked bad. Was he going to be any worse than an unprepared Maurer?

I don't like what's happening, but the staff (Pruitt) has put themselves in this position. Their decisions have consequences and they are having to live with it.

I am sure Chaney wants to go wide open, thats his style of play. Pruitt is probably holding him back due to lack of confidence in JG, and justifiably so. I say again, you swap QB's with Arky last weekend we win. He tried to go 75 run 25 pass and it failed. There is no excuse for not having a competent QB and competent backup in your 3rd year but that is where we are. I would rather fix this, and then see where we are, before blowing up the program and starting over.

If he was comfortable with the fourth down call and then says that he’d redo his decision, that means you actually weren’t comfortable with the 4th down call.

If you watch the press conference, you'll understand that he did not actually communicate what some think he did.
