DONE because he still wouldn't have beaten anyone, last year was an absolute fluke and he squeaked that out. In year 3 name 1 player he has recruited and developed? Next year with a new OL and new QB 3 wins is the ceiling

This is my first reply to a forum comment. So all the seasoned members and wanna-be coaches go ahead and start the bashing....My first memory of Volunteer Football was when my Dad who was a UT Graduate, took me to my first UT Ballgame and watching Bobby Majors returning punts. My entire life I have been a Vol fan through the good times and the bad times. My gosh, is there a perfect coach? NO ! I get it, no body likes loosing, no body likes it when a player makes a mistake, let's support our team through these times and stand with them. By the way, I'll always wear the ORANGE !

"Says he would kick it in hindsight since Tennessee didn't pick up the first down"

You don't say !

I actually took that as more smart@$$ than dumb@$$. On top of not being overly bright, he has an arrogance about him that is only tolerable if you're winning. If you are having your butt handed to you every week, you need to shelve the smart@$$ comments, Jeremy.

I understand what you’re saying. However, shouldn’t he have a decent understanding of proper grammar? Doesn’t he have a college degree? Usually someone with a college degree would know how to use basic grammar correctly. Also, this is in NO way an attack on anyone without a college education or anything like that.

My alarm bells go off not because of the accent (I know many brilliant good ole boys) but rather the fact that a 30 second statement from him has 15 seconds of "uuuhhhh"s, and not because he is speaking in complex phrases or conveying complex ideas. It is a slowness of processing that we see every Saturday in his decision making. Add to that an arrogance that isn't earned, and I am completely done with the guy.

I agree! I would never judge a southern accent. I have one myself. It’s the overall presentation.

Of course we wouldn’t fire the damn coach if we went 9-4 next year. The problem is that we don‘t have good, consistent QB play and until we do, we aren’t going to be very good. When have we been better than 9-4 in like the last 20yrs? I want to live in a world like some of you guys where we used to go 11-1 every year and be in the playoff mix.

Well that's you. I don't get to caught up in what people say or how they say it. I paymore attention to what they do and how they do it..

One of the smartest men I've ever known had a 5th grade education and a thick southern accent. However, by your standards he would be classified a moron... 🙄

**NOT a defense of Pruitt, just people in general....
My Granddad had a 5th grade education. That uneducated man taught me more about life, what really is important, and how to be a good person than any college professor I ever listened too. I know some highly educated idiots.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. This moron didn't even think about the possibility of kicking a field goal in that situation. Immediately after the game, he said that he didn't kick the field goal because we weren't close enough. Now, he's trying to change his answer because that made him look like the idiot that he is.

Agreed.

Been 3 different reasons now for not kicking a FG that could have extended the game and kept it in doubt.

I can't believe no one has roasted him for not having an UT polo on during the press conference. Just a black with white striped Nike polo. I am so disappointed. :)

He may not be a good head coach, but if he's a moron, he's the luckiest, most fortunate moron on the planet.

Personally I think he just to conservative and stubborn for his own good and he doesn't change, and damn quick, he'll lose this wonderful opportunity that he's been blessed with.

He’s an assistant football coach. Nothing more.

JP= you can score by running it every play or throwing it every play. Haha. Not in today's game.

You need two scores, the order of which doesn't really matter IMO. A field goal there is not guaranteed.. I don't have much of a problem with Pruitt's decision there and frankly it's way down the list of "things to be pissed at Pruitt about."

A FG there makes it one possession and changes what Arkansas has to do on offense and defense. In most of college football and all the NFL 99 times out of a 100 you'll see a kick there.

Maybe that “slowness in processing” is why he gravitates toward JG.

Never said it wasn't the smart play. My main point was out of say 10 things to be pissed at Pruitt about, that decision, for me, is currently about 6th or 7th on the list.

Down by 2 scores, lets go for it instead of letting the guy that had hit 2 straight get us to within one possession. Jeez if that doesn't tell you something well , you're dense. That reminded me of the Dooley years.

My grandfather never finished high school, immigrated from Japan over 100 years ago and found work as a laborer on a sugar cane plantation. He couldn't read English but somehow became a plant electricity manager. I asked my dad one time how he could do that and he said he borrowed electricity manuals from the library, asked someone to translate parts of them to Japanese and taught himself from the diagrams and his real world experience. SMH.

So you’re saying we need to draw Pruitt some diagrams?
I’m joking, that’s a cool story and sounds like your grandfather is someone to be proud of!

Pruitt lost this team. They are not motivated to play for him, and it’s gonna get worse. He will lose the next recruiting class and the transfer portal will explode. Years 4 and 5 with the wrong coach destroy programs for years (as we’ve seen several times). Time to rip the bandaid off.

He should’ve said in hindsight I’d go for it again. You play offense to score TDs and not kick field goals so that’s what we were trying to do. If you’re going to be aggressive then be aggressive.

But he’ll still be a millionaire and there will still be those that assume someone on a message board couldn’t possibly be smarter because of that fact.
