Havent seen Nebraska but FSU almost got shutout by a basketball school.

FSU is decent on D an 2017 UT bad on offense. They flat out suck.

Jim Brown, the late Ernie Davis, Larry Czonka, Floyd Little and Donovan McNabb would beg to differ.

Did you win the day Friday?
Ha. I actually sucked...lost several sales accounts because I was surfing the internet most of the day. Oh well...as long as I'm telling it like it is instead of coach speaking it, then surely I won't get fired!!

This is believable and provides hope going into next week. But the decision to play Chryst the last series of the first half wasted a great opportunity to get JG live reps running the 2 minute offense. That was a head scratcher.

I agree 100%. I never said the coaches were perfect...just getting needed reps and coaching the running game. I wondered myself about the waste of a 2 min drill situation

The score doesn't show it but this game was never in question. The self inflicted wounds were frustrating but other than that it was a pretty dah gum relaxing watch. UTEP never even threatened in this game

The title of this thread: Pruitt Post Game, I thought we were discussing Pruitt's Post Game-evidently, based on your posts, you think we are discussing what your boss thinks about your job performance, somewhere along the line you thought this thread was discussing Coach Pruitt's Game performance, and not the PRUITT POST GAME. I'm sure how you speak to your boss, and how you conduct yourself at work is going to be a big factor on you being fired or not, may I suggest, when talking to clients/your boss/other employees that you stick to subject-it could help! In this case we are discussing Coach Pruitt's Post Game, thus the title of the thread-carry on.

I'm also hoping that the coaches were treating this like some sort of "glorified scrimmage". Working on the aspects of the team that they know are weak. REALLY REALLY hoping that is the case, but regardless of how we try to spin it, CJP's responses were sending a different message. This is not a man who is optimistic.
The team I watched yesterday will not win an SEC game this season.

CJP isn't of the business of "sounding optimistic". He is a teacher & coach, plain & simple. That's what I like & why I think he'll get things turned around sooner than later. So you think we'll lose every SEC contest again this year? Please don't kick your dog/cat.

Fahr Pruitt! JK. Seriously, what did some of you guys expect? 10-2; 9-3; 8-4? You let yourself down if you got caught up in all that. This was a 4-8 football team last year, returning 1 quality offensive lineman, that kind of hole can't be schemed around. Florida is a coin flip at best but gird yourselves after that, it's going to be a rough month, not for the summer soldiers or the sunshine patriots. Vols through it all through.

Not to worry...I'm not kicking the cat. I'm in the group that understands CJP is going to need time...and I'm happy to give him time.
CJP's job is most certainly to teach, coach, and motivate...I have yet to hear anything "motivational" from him. Perhaps he saves it for the locker room but if so...he failed yesterday. THAT team was clearly NOT motivated.
So I'll say again: The team I watched yesterday will not win an SEC game this season.
CJP's Job may not be to "sound optimistic", you are correct. It's also to not field the sort of lackadasical mob we saw yesterday.

So...my point is that what many fans seem to be getting caught up on is how much better Pruitt is than Butch due to his "telling it like it is" approach, rather than the product that's actually being put on the field. I could care less what the coach says after the game...and imo many fans would've been fine with Butch's coach speak if we were winning like we should've been.
In fact, a coach could give his entire post-game in Swahili and it wouldn't matter, as long as the team performed.

I think the thing that surprises me the most is that we look soft and very slow. I realize Rome wasn’t built in a day, but I did expect to see dominance yesterday against an inferior opponent. I didn’t see too much of that.

It's still a basketball school that's been worse than Dooley and Jones at UT combined during the same stretch in football.

They suck and beat the poo out of FSU which was in question. It is what it is.

While Rome wasnt built in a day, Augustus Caesar found a Rome clad in BRICK and left her in marble.

Maybe Pruitt can do the same.

His uncle, by the way found a Gaul filled with Gauls and left her With not so many Gauls.

And Eric Idle once said....

"There's a whole horde of vizzygolves to see ya'll"

The only problem with this narrative is that’s what we’ve said for the last 10 years. I don’t want vanilla. I want hope that we can win or at least compete in every game. Ultimately, only time will tell if the vanilla gameplan narrative is the truth.

It was less about being vanilla and more about developing a running game and trying to instill toughness in the OL. As others have said this was a glorified scrimmage and there were specific plays, sets, and players the coaches wanted to get on video. When you run it 50 times and pass it 19 its going to look vanilla but that's more about what CJP wanted to work on than a conscious decision to "not show Florida anything"

I was really disappointed at what I saw our Vols doing at first.

Then it dawned on me that Pruitt and staff were using the game as nothing but a practice.

Pruitt did NOT care about running up the score to try to put 50 or 60 points on them, he cared about getting the WIN and working on the players to help make them better.

They were working on specific things with different players to teach them more and help them become better players.

I saw LOTS of teaching and coaching on the sidelines, even by Pruitt, and I even saw JG on the sidelines with many of the O players sitting in a group listening to JG as he worked to try to teach them all more things.

Many different players got real game knowledge and experience and got more things on film for the coaches to teach them more this week as they work to get ready for floriDUHHH.

I finally understood what Pruitt and staff were doing and all that extra coaching and teaching WILL help the Team get better as the season moves forward so screw the score, we got the WIN and lots of players got lots of extra teaching and coaching to help make them better and that's always a positive thing.

Thank God that we finally have real footVol coaches that coach them up at every opportunity!

VFL...GBO!!!

WINNER!

Doesn't mean we win another game this season, however, I think the future is bright ORANGE!

Pruitt and this coaching staff is giving these players what they need to know. They are working hard at breaking some bad habits. I think this coaching staff is giving their all. They have to work with what they have and they are doing the best they can with them. I guarantee an analysis is being made of every player that is on this team. Pruitt won't be afraid to replace players that don't practice or play up to his standards. Were gonna get back to SEC level with this coach three games is not a measuring stick or even a season. It might be next season or season three but first time in a while that I feel we can get to playing at a high level again.
