Hate to say it, but it looked like our current coaching staff pulled a page from the Butch Jones playbook today.
Chapter 13: In a home game where you're expected to romp and stomp, play down to the competition!

How different it is when a real coach-CALLS IT LIKE IT IS! CP isn't making excuses, or trotting out some rehearsed 'coach talk phrases'. We've needed a NO BS, old fashion, Football coach for many years-he gets a thumbs up for the way he handles himself in front of the cameras.

I have little doubt, in your case, that is your wish. Of course in this thread we're discussing how our coach handled himself in the post game-and the performance of such.

Not the coaches. The players still have the butch stink on them and started very lethargic

With Jones, the post game would have been the following:

"Jush a great effort by sho many individualsh out there. UTEP came ready to play, and you gotta givesh them a bunsh of credit. But itsh all about persherverensh and finding a way to win. Itsh all about follow through. And itsh all about eye discipline and effective complimentary football. We're jush excited as heck to be playing Florida next week. Thanksh!"

The 'sh's are my effort to duplicate that mush-mouth red faced ridiculous look he always had post game.

Good grief I'm glad Lyle is gone!

I don't think that is the case. I don't think they ever thought they would lose this game/ They worked on the run game , specifically the off tackle . They got the O-line and all running backs needed reps and corrected a lot of problems. The backs all ran their assignments , very little bouncing or coming out of the play script . They held the offense to some really base plays and didn't show much especially in the passing game. This was by design . There was very little play action . The run and pass was not balanced.

This was a glorified scrimmage where the coaches worked on things that the team is not good at. Valuable reps for a team that could not muster a running game at all last year . Let them coach

They looked like they were afraid to score. Noooo, not me. Perseverance is not happening; I'll tell you that.

I think maybe the team takes on the fans attitude, lets stay 2 quarters and go home. The teams quarters to be there seem to be 2nd and 3rd. I live on the west side and can't attend often, as well as a broken foot, but I have a question. Watching on TV it looks like the stadium is half empty by the middle of the 3 qrt. Doesn't matter the score. I know we pay to come as go as we like but I don't notice it as bad at other TV games. This is a honest question and hope to understand a little more
