At the end of the day--that's all that I'm saying.....these guys have to own their performances on the field....it's not from lack of effort....the UGLY TRUTH is that our players are just not very good.....
I haven't seen this lack of talent across the board for a SEC team since Lou Holtz took over USCe back in 1999. It truly is that bad.
No one wants to hear it....but it's just flat out TRUE.....
Instant gratification? For Tennessee fans? Dude, we’re going on 2 decades since Tennessee has been worth an ish, and there’s no sign, zero sign that it’s getting better anytime soon. Not Pruitt’s fault, but he’s gonna catch some of the frustration, especially when he puts a team out there that looks like it looked today. Being a Tennessee fan is a miserable, loathsome existence on Saturdays in the fall for a long, long time now. Let’s not act like fans are being unreasonable and impatient here.
The question becomes, why aren't they that good? Why at game 9 are they as bad, or worse than game 1?
Did every other team recruiting them miss on their evaluation? Did every recruiting service miss? Is a year with the team too short a time to get anyone to improve at all?
Did Urban Meyer misjudge it that badly when he offered Micah Abernathy and Daniel Bituli?
Callaway was offered by Florida, Notre Dame, Auburn, Miami, FSU etc. They all miss?
Saban offered Ryan Johnson, did Saban dodge a bullet?
The list goes on and on. It stretches belief that the services and these coaches just happened to miss on the players that committed here. We came into the season behind only Georgia with 4/5 star players on the roster. They simply haven't prospered under any of their coaches yet. I'd hoped that maybe they would show growth under this coach, but so far they've not. Even basic fundamentals are a crap shoot at best. The 7 false starts last week killed us, as did the dumb personal fouls. This week the OL looks like they received matador coaching rather than being taught blocking technique. Something is going wrong somewhere and I don't believe it's the raw ability of the players.
I've been to practices at every level of football, including the NFL. At each one from Middle School to the NFL position coaches have worked fundamentals and technique with their players at some point during practice. It never ends. You practice everything to make sure it's perfect on game day. I sometimes believe people think practice is made up of scrimmages every day.
Ah. Gotcha. Size would be interesting. But strength would be a big factor too. I watched the game and didn’t think we looked physically dominant at any point.
Right--I get it......we've got comparable talent via rating services on the field so we should be competing better on the field....
So--it's completely LOGICAL to take out all of your anger on the COACH who has spent the LEAST AMOUNT of TIME over the last 3 years with 60 of the 85 players on the field--TOTALLY RATIONAL!
Did CBJ's rah rah rhetoric inspire you to be a champion of life? I guess you just don't have a 5-star heart....
It's a 3-4 year process to get his own players......people who live for instant gratification are almost never inspired by anything and habitual complainers about everything..... sound familiar?
Once again, it wasn't just recruiting services who thought our players were good. It was Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Mark Richt, Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly, etc who also offered them scholarships.
It's not logical to claim we're throwing trash on the field especially compared to Charlotte. At some point a coach needs to make his players better. These are his players too. The second he took the job last year they became his players. Maybe he should have spent a little more time evaluating what he could do to make the team better when he took the job. But he spent several weeks busy working for Alabama during that time.
Fans have been waiting 11 years since last SEC championship game appearance...20 years since last SEC championship. It's been 12 years since we beat Alabama, Florida has beaten the Vols 15 out of the last 19 times we've played. The fans still show up. The problem is definitely not expecting instant gratification.

In short, 0 rushing yards to Ole Miss in 2014 is just terrible. However, that was against Ole Miss....not Charlotte. All of these games are against top opponents, and the closest I could find to comparable stats to todays game.
I'm not sure we've ever won a game when only rushing for 20 yards. It was a struggle to even find a game where we only ran for 20 yards.

Fulmer said during the spring game it’s going to take a few years to get to bring in GA and Bama type of players in
No but it might be interesting to some of us.
I am not sure I believe these weights. Our offense line looks skinny compared to the most offensive lines I've seen in the SEC.View attachment 174660
