Pruitt on Maurer

I didnt catch the first series due to overrunning coverage on the previous game but did Shrout look bad? seems they pulled him early, personally didnt think Guarantano should have been out there, visually it was just a bad look but he did manage the game well except for the interception in the endzone but against a really good UAB defense i thought he did a decent job.

One of Maurer's assets is his running ability and with his injuries it takes that out now or makes it risky. He can Throw but has made bad choices like the other 2 did. It just to me seemed he brought life to the team and started this momentum the team is on.

I think the main thing people like about BM is that he's not JG. I certainly think he has potential but you'd think he's the next Manning the way people talk about him. Based on the below sample size (which is admittedly too small and too early) I can't understand why we're all so torn up about him playing. Aside from UGA, I wouldn't say he's played really well.

UTC 0-2 0TD 0 INT
UF 4-11 0TD 1INT
UGA 15-28 2 TD 1 INT
MSU 4-7 0 TD 2 INT
Bama 4-7 0 TD 1 INT
Again, I'm not down on him but I'm not sure we beat UAB by any more than we did if he plays.

Hopefully Maurer has learned that he doesn’t have to win the game on every snap. While the spin the moves and YAC’s are fun to watch and are momentum plays from time to time, it’s gonna sideline you when you don’t know how to take a hit. I don’t think he knows how to take a hit yet.

That makes NO SENSE.
Wish he had simply said..."Brian's condition made it difficult to put him in a meaningless game. We'd rather give him as much time off the field as possible going into the last REAL games this season"

Well when and if maurer returns Pruitt will pull him with his first mistake, which maurer and any other qb will make mistakes, including jg, who makes more mistakes than any of them, late throws, inaccurate downfield throws most of the time. Makes it much harder for ol to play when jg in game

I agree.

Maurer has a ton of potential, but he's not actually played that well except for brief spurts. He has 5 INTs on 55 passes which is terrible.. Once he learns to make better decisions with the ball, he could be a Josh Dobbs like talent, but he's not there yet.

JG hasn't played great this season, but he's still the QB on our roster least likely to give the game away with bad turnovers. And given how dominant our defense has been lately, that's a pretty good argument for playing JG.

Pruitt is still learning how to be a head coach off the field in terms of media and PR. I’ve come to expect it. As long as we win the game, it’s an irritation and not an issue. I don’t think for one minute that Pruitt will stick with JG if we go down early over our remaining games.

Yes, but that may be too late to win a winnable game, that's the problem.

We didn't need him. If we'd needed him, I am sure CJP would've inserted him. The defense was playing very well, and UAB helped, a ton, by turning it over, often. Let Mauer rest.

Maurer needed the game reps for the future. Imo Pruitt gona stick with jg or maurer would have played.

Spot on...Why put in a QB coming off concussion protocol in a game that was never in doubt and risk losing him for good down the stretch. Pruitt should do the same thing next week as well, let JG and JT handle the game and only put BM in if the game is not going well.

But jg doesnt put many points up against decent teams. Only 2 td sat and with short field. That will not win against sec teams as proven already with jg record against sec teams

He’s right, JG made mistakes but his OL did him absolutely no favors either.

The game was never in doubt and we doubled the spread. So why are we whining so damn much?
Who is whining? It was reported all week Maurer was practicing and ready to go. He didn't play last night and people were wondering why we only saw 2 QBs. Pruitt answered that, it wasn't posted anywhere so I posted it. There was nothing about this bashing JG. Some people are just so insecure about that kid any QB talk that doesn't involve him anymore is now whining and bashing him?

The team/coaching staff that lost to GA State has no room to call any game “meaningles”

Considering how razor thin our bowl hopes are there is no such thing as a meaningless game anyway.

I can see both sides of the argument and from game to game, I've been on both sides of the argument. Maurer needs experience but his health is a concern if he plays. JG doesn't produce as much but he also doesn't give the ball away as much. I don't know what is really going on with Maurer's health or how Shrout looks in practice so I think I will just leave all of this up to the coaches. Of course,at any point during the next game,I will still think I know better than they do, I can't help it. Bottom line, just win.

Has he played in more than 4 games? If not I don’t think we will see him again and he will redshirt

Never mind. Just did the math. He’s played in 5

what he meant to say: we're saving BM for the SEC games to come...we'll need him to kick some butts...:D

IMO its not you. Between this thread and the Defense Saved Us thread, there are 3-4 that are whining enough for everyone. Might be the worst I've ever seen. I suggest you ignore it.

We didn't need Maurer last night and he didn't get his head bashed in playing in a game he didn't need to.play in.

Why is that so damn hard to understand for some? Some of you need to stop watching press conferences because you don't get them. Lol.

He's played in 4 games exactly. No redshirt if he takes anymore snaps this year. I'd like to think he's gonna be the starter the rest of the season. He really needs to start hitting the ground before contact to preserve his body.
PS......I stand corrected. Forgot he played vs. UF
