Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

People complain about Butch being a snake oil salesman.

People whine and complain when Pruitt is honest.

Make up your mind. Do you want to hear all the BS or hear the brutal truth?

Exactly.

I'm a big fan of Fulmer but I have been decidedly unimpressed with the Pruitt hire. His comments yesterday have actually been the first positive I've seen from him. His "I will confront them" may make it into my signature line which is a lot different than "Looking for Rommel" and "Life Championships". It's time for a lot of no nonsense in Knoxville. Fans butt hurt about his comments can please do so quietly.

we want wins nothing else. i am over the coach ra ra crap. that's why i didn't go for the 1st time in many years.

Team performance is the main issue with job. Tennessee has proven a coach need not worry about fan support.

Team performance is his main job.

How can you say a Vol coach need not worry about fan support?

With all the talk of boycotting games and an actual protest to a coaching hire, that doesn't seem to match up with reality.

How many have said they will wait till we win before they give their full support?

There were plenty in the Knoxville area(Walking distance.) that did not go in the stadium to pack it out.

Neyland has been loud with boos for coaching decisions and poor play by players.

Jeez. Did you even read the whole quote and not the Wes Rucker Fake News one? Basically, all he asked was if you could’ve come and didn’t, why didn’t you? That’s it. But people love being petty and media people love clicks.

I just don't understand why you go there. I will be rooting for him, but this is not new at UT. Many people who are 3+ hours away aren't going to the spring game. The stadium won't be full. The falls are totally different.

For the fans (especially those who live within a short drive of the stadium) who didn't attend the scrimmage yesterday, and are now upset that the coach asked them if they really had a legitimate reason for skipping the game, I'm so sorry for your hardship.

Looks to me like CJP is making just one point: he was hired to reestablish excellence in this program, and that's what he'll try to do.

For the whole program.

For the coaches, that means 100-hour work weeks, little sleep, practically no family time, just one unvarying drive to improve the players who are going to take the field wearing orange. Improving them individually, and then as a team.

For the players, that means winning championships. Not winning 8 games and getting to a bowl. Championships.

For the fans, that means 102,455. That's how much the stadium holds? Okay, then, that's how you define excellence.

I honestly don't think he's a complicated fellow. He's just asking for excellence.

Sorry some let it hurt their feelings. I know Vandy has safe spaces, if you'd like to shift your fandom there.

How many millions are you getting paid Pruitt? Not a good look.

Guy waited until about 4 days ago to even encourage fans to come. You're not Saban. Win some ****ing games then you can lecture fans.

Exactly. He has not really engaged with this fan base at all. And he removed the meet / greet part of the activities. That says a lot.

He is very arrogant and is going to rub lots of folks the wrong way. I know some folks are blinded and can't see it - but he is and it will become very obvious over time.

Now it could all be because he has no clue what it means to be a HC and eventually he will get it. Time will tell.

Pruitt's always been a fiery person and I'm sure most of his mistakes have been when he's going 100 MPH. But the HC job won't allow a lot of that and frankly, he's not the DC anymore. Much like Muschamp, he will need to quickly shut down that assistant coach sideline demeanor.

I agree with this. He is in many ways still acting like a DC, not a HC.

If he wins, things will be overlooked. But if he loses, things like this and the wheels will come off fast.

All the talk of boycotts etc....how many happen? None, so yeah, we all know where you stand whoever the current coach is we know you are waiting on bended knee to worship everything they say.

This fanbases has been awesome for a decade of straight trash embarrasing football. CJP should develop some situation awareness and make no negative references to fans. Be appreciative to those that showed and worry able the teams performance. People can argue this all they want. If he continues and backs it up with a trash product he wont be here long.

My take on this position on performance is we will not except mediocre performance. If you want praise and thank yous from this staff, you will have to earn it.

Worship? Overboard with that.

To remain the HC at UT he will need to win. Just like every other coach. This is nothing new. Ask Butch, Dooley, Fulmer and Majors. That covers my time as a Vol fan. They all got the boot due to losses.

He asked fans to pack out Neyland for the O&W Game. We didn't. He says we didn't and that makes him the bad guy. There were plenty of fans that chose not to attend. Just because he is new here doesn't mean he should lower his standards.

Lots of butt-hurt fans on here. Want to be stroked like a cat. The world has gone soft.

If I was a betting man, my bet would be that Pruitt's going to walk down that statement that included the fans sometime this week. He's going to feel the need to qualify what he really meant. Even if we already know what he really meant.
