Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

You guys have taken Coach Pruitt's words out of context. "I thought the Vol walk was spectacular. The ones that were here I'm proud they were here. They're fired up they're ready to get going. And then there were some people that weren't here that had legitimate reasons they couldn't be here and then there were some people that weren't here that..why weren't they here? It's kind of like our football team. So I think we ALL need to look in the mirror and see who we want to be."
I don't have a problem with that statement from coach. The bar isn't just set for the team it's set for us as fans as well. I'll take that sort of criticism from a coach who wants to be here. Watch the entire question and his answer instead of these clickbait journos. Facebook

He was throwing shade at the HC because CJP dares to show some anger and emotion that always makes this society of "inside-voice" screaming snowflakes nervous--and took the time to immediately label him as a hot-head.

Do you live in a cave? Anyone who dares to raise their voice or show some anger/emotion is automatically labeled a threat and unstable...i.e., a red flag....

It's just stupid!

Again he should focus his anger and emotion to what is his responsibility which is the product on the field.

Thank you! I’m telling y’all it’s a small portion of butthurt fans who are making the most noise

What he said is only offensive if you are easily offended.

And that's what I was labeling as a bunch of feminized snowflakes.....if they are truly that offended by his comments....

It's truly embarrassing to be a UT fan right now among a bunch of these folks who take the time to be offended by CJP's comments....

One idiot in this thread even says that those kinds of comments led to his dismissal from UGA--which was a sinking ship before Kirby Smart took the same players and got rid of their "limp-wristed" attitudes and made them tough-minded football players.... If anything--UGA looks idiotic for showing Pruitt the door...they should've actually been listening to him...

Avoiding the question huh? No worries, i didnt think you would want to answer.

To be honest I didn’t avoid I deflected it . And I don’t believe you answered my questions either . A good coach is a good coach be if worth his salt he will be honest and tell you that he couldn’t get it done without a good staff . That goes for any leaders . It’s a team sport and we left the “ individuals “ with our old staff .( I hope )

He is a NC-winning coach who was the DC for Bama in 2 NC games...what the heck about that do you not understand?

And HE led his defense to shut down UGA in the 2nd half of the NC game to get his team into a position to win...is that so hard for you to grasp?

He is not a nc winning coach, that claim is reserved for the head coach. Im sorry you dont agree with reality. That fine, you can define it however you wish in your head. That doesnt make it true.
JP was a part of a nc winning team, he is not a nc winning coach
...yet.

Five national championships as an assistant equals one national championship as a head coach. You didn’t hear? 😛

Ive said seversl times, in this thread and others that i think jp is a solid coach. That doesnt make him a nc winning coach. And yeah, i know you deflected the question, you dont want to hear the answer.

He was doing that, too.....You obviously just have to find something to criticize him about from 3 sentences of comments....You're the one who is being exposed here...

He was a part of multiple winning teams on different teams . Now all we have to do is ask why ? Because the head coaches were that good ? Sure they were . Why did those coaches hire him ? Come on now is pretty simple 🤔

Im being exposed? Lol. A rookie head coach calling out fans over a spring game. Lol, a fan bases that has packed stadiums for a decade to watch crap ball. Yeah, im being exposed. FYI, im one of the fans with a legit reason not to attend. I hopped on vn hoping to see threads about how good the field performance was. And instead got this. So yeah, cant wait for the season. We just need 80 more nationdon threads and we will be awesome.

What is there to answer? You claiming saban assistance are nc winning coaches...i ask you how many are considered top teir as head coaches and you deflect with some nonsense about coach cutt and im supposed to answer that? Lol, it literally has nothing to do with anything.....like not even a little bit.

I'm not remotely offended.

I just think it's incredibly stupid. Hate to break it to him but he'll never win an argument against the fans.

Especially an argument over an insignificant acrimmage.

Should probably spend a quiet moment or two of reflection on how his defense gave up 70 points to the Vols in 2 seasons at Georgia. With the sh-t show Jones routinely put on the field, that's something that is more embarrassing than "only" getting 65 K to show up to a scrimmage.

We went 4-8 so people didn’t show up because they are waiting for us to be good. Bandwagon

So any fan, who’s been living and dying with the Vols for years, even decades, especially through the last decade-long ish show.....if that fan didn’t show up for a meaningless intrasquad game in April, then he is a “bandwagon” fan?

Neyland will be brimming, will be 100% full with 102k+ fans in September, you know that....and not one will be a bandwagon fan.

Edit- also, how many fans showed up for the 1999 Spring game, after we’d just won the National Championship 3 months earlier? Spoiler alert....it wasn’t 102k+. We have a bunch of bandwagon fans then too, just waiting for the team to get good again?

When all you’ve been around your entire coaching career is championship caliber teams you tend to know what championship effort and talent looks like. And I would bet you might have a clue on how to build it. I’m not saying he will do it here but I think we may be on the right track at least. I mean look at Butch. Nothing against him personally but it’s hard to go somewhere you’ve never been.

As ive said before, i personally think JP isba very solid coach anf am glad to have him. But calling him a nc winning coach is flat out wrong. Its nothing more than folks trying to convince themselves that we have hired the savior of vols football. In yhis case its especially silly becausr saban has proven he can win nc's regardless of who his assistants are.
But judging by the comments about the field performance,( couldnt watch due to work so going by the comnents on here) i would expect this rhetoric to get worse, as people try to convince themselves we are gonna be better than what we are leading up to season start.

Our NC winning AD would beg to differ. As would every single coach in the profession. But hey, you do you.

Your whole argument is that “ nattys are reserved for the head coach” I asked so in that case did Cutt deserve the one he has . It has everything to do with what you claim .

Perfectly said

Maybe you should shut the hell up.

It’s not like you contributed to UT by bringing Gruden to UT Mr. “JonGrudensAgent” 😂

And another mouth breather takes the troll bait.

Amazing how the mere name of some mediocre NFL coach gets you guys riled up.

Thank you for saying this.

Should be obvious but some folk insists on defending these coaches no matter what as if it somehow makes them better fans.

Been an issue round here for a minute, nothing good on the field to discuss so we gotra bicker about meaningless coaching nonsense.
